I know it's been discussed to death. I need an inexpensive unit for rti4's.
Looking at
Denon AVR 1312, 75 WPC
discreet and High Current?
Onyko TX SR 309
Not discreet and not sure about current
60 WPC
Onyko TX SR 508
Seems to a big step up from the 309
Maybe Better amps etc.
Or a Yammie RX V371
I could use a little advice before I buy

I have some Rti-4s in my bedroom and have found them to sound good with my Onkyo 604 and also a higher model Denon (110 watts/channel). Both are High Current designs.
If I were going to buy an Onkyo, I'd try to budget for a 700 series because that model has pre-outs and you have RTi speakers, so you might want to plan for a future where you upgrade to Rti towers, in which case you'd want an AVR with pre-outs in case you want to add an external amp to the AVR.
I'd also listen to a higher model Denon, at least a 1900 series? But Denons don't come with pre-outs till you get to the 3311 or higher? And that's some coin.
Listen to both if you can. The Onkyo is a bit more dynamic with HT sound, and the Denons are a bit more 'musically' pleasing IMO. But that might sound different to you?

Is this just to power two speakers or surround sound duty? What is your budget? IMO the RTi's will sound better with a laid back receiver like Harmon Kardon or maybe the Denon.AVR: Elite VSX-21TXH

I'm not planning on upgrading so Pre-outs don not matter to me.
My budget is under 300 for a receiver. There are refurbs out here and some on sale.
Now when I listed those I noticed the SR 309 from Onkyo does not say it has WRAT but it's supposed to have full bandwidth on all channels. Makes me think it has better amps than receivers rated at power @1K in specs. I can get that one for 119. I think 60 WPC and a high current design would be plenty of power for a small room.
I also have to get something that is EASY for the wife to use!!!!
I like a nice, open sound and not buzzy like SS can be.
