A friend just aquried a pair of 12b's. Though the board looks the same at first close inspection his has diff. Inductors (mine white, his yellow) and his board dosent have a fuse where mine does. This may be a ? For geppy1 but is the diff in these xovers?

There are two different crossovers for the 12's. The 12A has both mids going through the tweeter circuit and the 12b's have just one going through the tweeter circuit.

Polk was also known to change things on the fly from time to time on all there crossovers.

If you can get a pic of both to compare I think we can better answer your question.

By the way the inductors are the red wire wrapped around an iron core. The yellow and white things you speak of are capacitors, and there may be no difference at all. It depends on what they say on them. If the actual values are different or not. Polk uses outside suppliers for there crossover parts and they come in all different colors.

Where are you reading that it is a 12B??? Do not go by what it says on the the top board to decide B or C. Look at the serial number on back. What is it?? They removed the fuse and went to a Polyswitch when they went to the SL2000 which is late 1985.

The only number that matters is the one on the back of the cabinet

Both speakers are 12b's (no issue) just courious why 1 is fused on xover and 1 is not and why. They look identical( xovers) execpt the fuse and the inductors are a diff color.
