Hi guys!! What do you guys think about using a pair of Monitor 70's for surrounds with RTiA9's as the fronts? (BTW, I plan on running the 9's with an Emotiva XPA-2, and running the center, which will be a CSiA6, with an Emotiva XPA-3. The room is approximately 2500 cubic feet, and the system will be used primarily for HT.)

Do you already have the Monitor 70's? If not, it would be wasteful to buy these and use them as surrounds. The array of woofers in the monitor 70's will be under-utilized if delegated to surround duty....not a whole lot of low-frequency material (bass) is fed through the surround channels.

You'd be better served picking up a pair of surrounds from the RTi-A line...ie FXi-a4. These would perform much better for surround duty.

The exception this would be in the event that you're listening to a lot of DVD-Audio/SACD. But for strictly HT, booshelves or dipole surrounds are a better use of your money. I prefer the latter.

I agree, I am using the 70,s as side surrounds, because I upgraded my front sound stage to the LSI line. I use a pair of FXI3,s as rears, they are terrific, the FXI4,s are better yet.
