Save on Hero IC's..

Stevie quick tip:
Save about 25% by buying Kimber Hero with the Ultraplate connectors instead of the WBT 0144's. The Ultraplates slip on real nice, they're not overly tight like some audioquest cable connectors can be, and I'm not hearing any difference between the 2 in my system (YMMV):
Kimber Hero WBT 0144...$262/1mtr pr
Kimber Hero Ultraplate...$200/1mtr pr
Just an FYI for "Hero" lovers out there, who might want to save some coin....

Jason, I was little skiddish about trying the ultraplate version, as all of my older Hero's are WBT's; but after having this set in (between passive and amp) for about 2 months, I'm convinced there's no difference. Future Hero's in my system will be ultraplate. They slip right on and off, like buttah--perfect fit.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

I just calls them likes I sees them...LOL
The ultraplate is a pretty respectable connector in its own right, a standard on the classic PBJ.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -

As nice as the locking WBT's are, they can also be a little bit of a PITA. I'm constantly turning them the wrong way to tighten/loosen--and you have to remember to push in while tightening, or they can back out. With hindsight, I would have bought all ultraplate versions.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2

I actually have the same problem.. I actually un-screwed one too much once and the locking part fell off, which I didn't notice at the time, and I couldn't find it (or use the cable subsequently) for several days until I found the part hiding somewhere..2-Channel - So far...

Just thought I would bump this old thread by Steve as I also have the ultraplates and find them VERY good in quality.
I also would add the stock banana's are just as good and save you tons of cash over the WBT spades as well."....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." +2, I really like Kimbers bananas. I have them on my 8TC v.2 cables.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2
