Monster's list of counterfiet sellers?

I was poking around on Monster's website today and came across a list of counterfeit cable sellers. A couple of a sites caught my eye:

Procablesdirect.com

Monoprice.com

The first site is curious as I've looked on their site before for Audioquest cables. The second site raised an eyebrow for more obvious reasons. I don't think I've ever seen Monster cables sold on Monoprice's site. It makes me wonder if it's Monster's way of deterring customers from purchasing similar cables for less. I highly doubt Monoprice has ever sold counterfeit cables but it does make one think...

Pretty long list in the link. Makes me think they just want you to buy from their authorized dealers only so they don't lose out on any $$$

I was surprised to not see Blue Jeans or Tartan Cable on the list seeing as how Monster went after them for copyright infringement not too long ago.

I hate to say it but as you can see in my sig, I do own Monster cables. Joke's on them though as I bought all of mine on clearance or second hand. Probably saved 80% off retail, if not more in some cases. Some of their higher end stuff isn't all that bad. Too bad about their business practices though.

I took a stand - the company I work for no longer carries Monster cable! Been Monster free for 3 years!

Infact, we deter anyone and everyone wanting Monster to something REAL!

They're still good cables and are a part of my rig, therefore they're going to be in my sig. Monster made no profit from my purchases and that's the important thing.

During the last year, I have been working on getting rid of anything I have that is made by Monster. Their stuff IMO is over rated and over priced.

Actually they are very average cables and you could do a lot better. I'm just sayin'

Just a FYI, you might want to try ANY other cable, just to be sure. As most of us know, different cables typically sound different, not necessesarily better or worse, just different. Monsters are the only ones I've tried which consistantly make things sound worse, much worse. Listen to the edge on the treble with monster vs any other cable.

As for going after Blue Jeans, it is common knowledge that they bit off more than they could chew on that one. In a nutshell, from wikipedia,
"On April 1, 2008, Monster Cable sent a cease and desist letter to Blue Jeans Cable,[21] claiming infringement on certain patents[16] owned by Monster Cable. The owner of Blue Jeans Cable, Kurt Denke, previously a litigation lawyer, responded with a letter detailing flaws and shortcomings in the allegations of patent infringement, adding "Not only am I unintimidated by litigation; I sometimes rather miss it."[22] In this correspondence, Denke also observed the possibility of Monster Cable avoiding federal income taxes by using a Bermuda-based holding company."

They THREATEND to go after BJC. What they didn't know was that the owner was a patent litigation lawyer in another life & was more than willing & able to fight back. Monster dropped it after getting a letter from BJC stating the facts.

So they wouldn't dare acuse them of anything else knowing they couldn't prove it, and BJC would make sure that it would be a very public fight.
