I have a Sherbourn 7/2100 amp

http://www.sherbourn.com/images/Manuals/Legacy/7-2100A_5-5210A_Owners_Manual.pdf

I can't seem to find out anywhere if it has a common ground that is suitable for the SDA's.

I called them and was told yes it is fine with the SDA's, however I am not sure they understood the situation.

This amp has two power cords and is a monoblock design. So I am concerned.

Anyone here have a definitive answer?

You probably should be concerned. Get a multimeter, and do a continuity check between the grounds on the L/R channel. If there is continuity, it is a common ground amp and should be fine.

After reading the manual I would say as long as you use one of the slave side bridgeable sets you should be fine. The bridgeable slave sets are 1right & 2left or 3right & 4left. And if you want to run it bridged it would be 1+2 Right and 3+4 Left.

It looks like the power cords run different sections. The main is for channels 5, 6 and 7 and the Slave is for channels 1-4. So the grounds on 1-4 are common to each other but not common to channels 5-7.

    Make sense?

If you need more help just ask.

    Hmmmmm.......

    Thanks for the info guys.

I am going to put a mulitmeter on it tomorrow to make sure.

I haven't considered running it bridged. Sounds like that may help with these speakers getting more power.

    Cool!

    Hmmmmm... again

    I just read this.

    OUTPUT LOAD IMPEDANCE
8 or 4 ohms in Normal mode
8 ohms minimum in Bridged mode

Now these are 6ohm speakers. What do you think about that info??

I would not advise it. I forgot what you were running and would not bridge this amp with those speakers. If I am not mistaken the 1C's can drop below 4 Ohms.

Plus at 200 Watts per channel that amp should do quite nicely with them.

Ok I used a multimeter and tested the amp for common ground. I tested between the two negative posts for channel 1 &2 and got a 0000.1 reading. I know it is supposed to be 0000.0.

    Is that good enough?

ok now I am concerned. I tried to test the IC with the multimeter and got all 0000.0 for both speakers for all connections except red to black which yielded 0000.4 for the left and 0000.38 for th right.

any ideas? Is the multimeter not hitting the correct part of the IC plugs?
    This is blade/blade btw.
