In praise of Flim and the BB's

I just got my copy of "This is a Recording" by Flim and the BB's. This may be the Jazz CD I've been waiting for my entire life. After hearing the opening track, "Universe of Two," I was hooked. This is not one of those CDs that has to grow on you. It's instant ear candy. In track 4, "Some Other Time," it's recorded as if you're sitting at the drum set (a recording technique used to great effect a la Neil Peart) with the individual drums filling the entire horizontal space of the soundstage.

I also own "Big Notes," "Vintage BB's," and "Tricycle," but this is by far the most crystal clear and most beautifully executed Flim CD I've ever heard.

Any other BB's fans here? A more thorough review will be forthcoming once I come back down to earth. :)

I've got most of their recordings.

TNRabbit is also a fan of their music.

Their music sounds great on the 1.2TL's... with tubes!

Flim and the BB's and Dee Lite. An old time member recommended these while listening to my 1.2 TL's when he picked up some amps. Most will know who he is (Not many recommend Dee Lite.....).

I bought a Dee Lite CD and only heard it the first time. Didn't get any Flim and the BB's....I guess I should try them.

I resemble that remark... I can't believe you bought Deee-Lite and not Flim... LOL... Explains the disco ball I guess...

Tricycle was selected by Polk Audio as a demo disc for their SDA SRS's. The attacks in the title track (#1) have caused more than a few SDA owners to mess themselves when I introduced them to it...

… or am I? SOPA anyone?

I think I first heard Tricycle on the SDA SRS's when they first came out. That was one of the first 3 or 4 CD's that I bought, I was so impressed.

^ Came out from under the wrong side of the bridge this morning?

    ^^ Six-packs be chillin'...

They made the move pre-flood so no issues with them, but three years and counting later, they've not been unpacked. May or may not have a future here... haven't decided yet.

Rolled through your hood a half dozen times the past couple years... mostly around 02:00 so I didn't call.... but I did wave...

Actually it will be 5 years in March. And they are still in the boxes? You're a bad man. Bring them back.
