LAKE BUENA VISTA - Lightning struck and killed a giraffe at Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park, company officials said Wednesday.

The accident occurred Monday afternoon as a severe lightning storm moved over the Kilimanjaro Safari attraction, where Betsy the giraffe roamed as visitors passed through, Disney spokeswoman Diane Ledder said.

A necropsy confirmed that the 6-year-old female giraffe was killed by lightning, Ledder said.

"To the best of my knowledge, it was a quick death," she said. It was unclear if any tourists saw the lighting strike.

Betsy was the first animal to die from a lightning strike at the central Florida theme park, she said.

"It's very unfortunate and unusual ... but it has happened in the past" at other U.S. parks, Ledder said.

The park has lightning rods placed throughout the safari area to protect animals, she said. Animals can also be brought inside during severe weather, but the lightning storm came through with too little warning, she said.

What are the chances? Specially Disney?

I hope the lightning rods were taller than the Giraffe. :D

What's so damn funny about an animal being struck by lightning?

If life was just, your insignificant **** would be used to replace one of the existing lightning rods, protecting Betsy's relatives for years to come.

Some people may not care for the giraffe, but nobody likes an ****.

Hmmmm.... nobody likes an ****?

Then you might like these better.

Sanaa, Yemen - An unfortunate donkey was the bearer of a bomb planted by terrorists. The target of the bomb was unclear, and nobody but the donkey was killed by the explosives strapped to the poor beast's saddle.

    Same one??
On Jan. 26, a bomb exploded on the road between Jerusalem and the West Bank settlement of Gush Etzion. The bomb was strapped to a suicide donkey. PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has sent a letter to the PLO leader Yasser Arafat protesting the use of the donkey in the bombing, saying that it was cruel tot he donkey. It is worth noting that, although no one (besides the donkey) was killed, PETA seemingly forgot to express any concern for the people that were in the vicinity of the bus. Broadside wants to know since exploding asses are not acceptable to PETA, if instead Palestinians could use their asses as shields.
Comeon.....ya gotta chuckle at that one :p

South Africa - A farmer was charged in the deaths of 39 donkeys which were found hanging from trees on his farm. He allegedly killed the donkeys when they trespassed on his property.

Using 896Mb RAM on Linux 2.4.10 with CONFIG_NOHIGHMEM:
When donkey was hashing and swap reached about 70Mb, X collapsed (and
got restarted by init), donkey was killed by this. Gracefully shutting
down the machine was possible.

After the January 26 bombing in which a donkey was killed by carrying explosives into Jerusalem, the People for Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) wrote a note to Yasser Arafat asking him to lay off the animal cruelty. "...If you have the opportunity, will you please add to your burdens my request that you appeal to all those who listen to you to leave the animals out of this conflict?"

Afterwords, Washington Post columnst Lloyd Grove asked PETA President Ingrid Newkirk if she thought about asking Arafat to stop blowing up human beings as well. Her idiotic response: "It's not my business to inject myself into human wars." *blink* I just don't get it.

Israeli Embassy spokesman Mark Regev wouldn't comment on PETA's plan but did have this clever bit to say: "I find it ironic that the Palestinian leaders choose to send donkeys to kill civilians. Surely, the Palestinian people deserve better than the current bunch of asses who run their affairs."

Well, ya know....we all die sooner or later and one of the ways to cope with this thought is to try and find humor in it. In fact, in any time of stress and turmoil, humor is a great way to keep from going crazy. Yeah , it seems insensitive at times but hey....that's just human nature. Sheesh!..they made jokes when the friggin' space shuttle exploded fer christsakes!
BTW.....I always thought PETA stood for 'People for the Eating of Tasty Animals'

Believe me Demi isnt trying to shield emotions with humor, he hates Disney and we had a lengthy discussion about it, so he posted this thread to be funny and start more garbage because a animal got killed at Disney, he thought it was ironic that Something bad happened at Disney right after we were fighting about it (Iassume) and We don't think its funny... I'm not a real big big animal lover and i'm not vegatarian for what ever that has to do with this thread, BUt its just an idiotic thread with 0 humor
