Pre+amp, or AVR? What's your preference?

(bear with me... yes, it's another 1120 thread, but it's a little different)
So I'm an over-analizer. My wife hates it, and my wallet does too. I'm a buy it once, buy it for keeps kind of person that doesn't switch things up on a regular basis. Once I buy something, it's going to stick with me until it breaks or there is just too many things against it.
Cut to the chase...
Would I be better in the long run with getting an 1120 and an amp for the front sound stage? Or do you think I would be better suited with using some of my tax return and stepping up to the SC-37 and forgoing the amp for now?
1120 - cheaper, full feature set (needs amp to fulfill sound requirements)
SC-37 - ICEamps, near full power output, 12v triggers, analog in/out, DLNA comliant, and NETWORK FIRMWARE UPGRADEABLE (<--- that's a big + in my book)
I use my system for 90% HT. Although I do not consider myself an audiophile by any means, I do like my toys. The 10% of the time that I am listening to music, it's generally pretty rockin.
I really feel that the SC would suit me better, and would probably turn out to be more of a "keeper" for years to come. Do I have "puppy love" for the SC, or is it really the best option as long as I can afford it? Not saying money is no object, but I can easily make my budget stretch from $500 to $1500 if it's worth it. That's how I went from looking at $120 BDP, to geting the Oppo-93. Good quality gear demands some additional resources from time to time.
Sorry for the additional 1120-K thread, but I realize that I'm comparing 2 AVR's from a completely different bloodline and didn't want to muddy the other threads.

I'd go with the SC-37. It should have a much better preamp stage and it will put out its rated power easily. You can always add on to it later. Oh and it looks nicer, too.Main Surround -

You might be able to find a sc-27 for alot cheaper than the sc-37. They're going for around $1000 or less.

I'm kind of shying away from the 27, mainly due to the fact of the HDMI 1.4. Granted, I'm not into 3-D currently. But I will be looking for a new set come this summer, so that's not out of the question. Although, to rebuff myself - the Oppo does have dual HDMI out, so I technically do not need a 3-d capable receiver.
I've looked at the stats individually, but haven't found any good comparisons. Any idea what the differences are between the 2?
Also, the prices I'm seeing are only about $200 apart (1200 vs 1400ish) but if I keep a lookout, I'm sure those prices in themselves can fluctuate by a couple hundred themselves.65" Sony X900 (XBR-65X900E)

I've never had the pleasure of hearing the SC-37, but I love my 1120/Adcom setup. The 1120 has more features than I need and does a great job, and I like being able to change or upgrade my amps depending on my speakers without having to buy a whole new setup. However i've never heard anything but praise about the ICE amps and i'm sure you'll be extremely happy with either choice you make. Either one will drive the monitors effortlessly but if you ever went with the Lsi's or a 4ohm speaker you might wish you had an external amp instead.
