New RTiA7's seem to have a damaged port
Hi guys
I've just purchased a pair of RTiA7s and on while I was unboxing and setting up I noticed the rear port of one has a crack running from the inside out. Its a strange looking thing as its not a clean break, and the sides are sorted melted together. Almost like it broke and the factory then heated it and melted the parts back together.
Its also really rough finish, like the plastic (or is it resin) has been sandpapered a bit.
What do you think of this? Is it normal for the ports on these speakers to be rough like this? I asked the store where I purchased and they said would investigate but it was just before Christmas and they closed for the break and won't re-open until next week sometime.
I have been using the speakers and they sound good, nothing jumps out at me as being off that I can hear but I am a bit concerned as all previous speakers I've owned all have basically flawless ports around back. The other RTI speaker doesn't have anything like this on it either.
I attached a picture too, runs down the center of the shot. Hope its clear enough was hard to get good focus with the angle I was shooting on.
Any ideas or thoughts, don't yet what the retailer will do about it.
thanks
Stewart

If you bought it from a store take it back.

Uh huh, so pretty much this isn't normal for them to have this kind of thing.
I'll chase the place up this week and push them for a new set.

Of course it's not normal, just get them exchanged. If you get no support, call Polk on Monday.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Hey just a quick update and thanks for confirming what I'd thought guys too that its defective situation, spoke to the store today and all good they will give me a new pair. Even got an offer of delivery and pick up of the previous set which is cool, wasn't looking forward to having to rebox those babies.
