I use peanut butter for trapping squirrels.

This thread and the BBQ sauce thread should be merged! A good slathering of BBQ sauce is the only thing that would make squirrel edible!

I just had my chimney cleaned yesterday, and the Chimney sweep told me a story about one of his customers (true story)---Apparently this guy had a rather large Squirrel's nest in the chimney flue and instead of boring through it or taking it apart from the bottom, the homwowner ramming it from the top which only packed it down even firmer. The Chimney sweep also noticed some significant damage to the flue while inspecting.

Well with the squirrels still a problem, the old school farmer guy, decided to just go up on his roof and shoot a 12 gauge down the chimney to clear it out.

The Chimney sweep asked the guy if he knew what Clay Pigeons were made from.
Then he asked him if he knew what Clay Flue pipes in chimney's were made from.

So last week while pest guy was there to check trap, and while there Squirrel runs out of attic by soffit. And stated to me I needed to get the soffits repaired where they are coming in, I stated ok and fixed them a day later. He comes out today to recheck trap, and there's something in it. But to my surprise, it was a RAT.. So I say this isn't over yet.

Maybe their doing the old slight of hand trick on ya...better check the basement.

Sorry pal, don't mean to make fun of your situation, but you have to admit,it's pretty darn funny from 1000 miles away. A rat now...damn, your house is just too cozy for these critters. Whats next, an alligator in the plumbing? Well, at least you have some professional help to deal with it.

Funny, but no basement, very uncommon in Florida. But then again a Gator in the pool is pretty common, I be sure to post a picture if that should ever happen.

Yeah but they also have a tendancy to invade inner space where squirrles are outdoor critters. When they do invade they take on brass balls attitude.

No kidding Steve. When I was a kid after we moved to SouthWest Philly, they were blowing up the foundations of the Bond bread factory about 12 blocks away. After a little while the rats which were HUGE came into the houses on all the blocks. They would climb up on my little brothers crib trying to get to the milk bottle. My father and my uncle would corner these monsters and club them to death. It took months for the area to get rid of them.

I hope not such a big deal for me, I'm glad I have a pro looking after me now. I remember growing up in Providence RI and a toilet issue then became a sewer rat then shovel. My first experience knowing a shovel could kill.

OK....rats and squirrels are both in the rodent family...correct?
Well, i previously stated that squirrels are not to fond of fire so i might suggest stickin with that approach.

    or

since the "HOUSE" cat isn't going to help you, maybe some sort of jaguar/mountain lion stuffed in the attic might do the trick...

or finally, pay the neighborhood kids a buck a squirrel/rat scalp and send them into the annex. Kids will do anything for a buck.
