Bi-amping Monitor 70's
I currently have my Monitor 70's bi-amped through the TX-NR808. In reading other posts about bi-amping, it sounds like using another power amplier would improve the sounds. I have a Kenwood KM-105 power amplier that I'm no longer using. I was thinking about using the KM-105 to bi-amp the Monitors.
This is all new to me so I need help to make sure that I'm doing this correctly and if it'll make a difference. From what I've read, I would run an audio cable from the pre out surround back output jacks to input jacks on the amplier, and then run the speaker wire to the high frequency side of the Monitor 70's.
Also I have the 808 set at 6 ohms and the KM-105 output is 125 watts per channel minimum RMS, both channels drive at 8 ohms. Will the diffenence be a problem?
Equipment:
Receiver: Onkyo TX-NR808
Fronts: Monitor 70's
Surrounds:Kenwood JL-850W 3way tower speakers with 180 watt
Blueray Player: Sony BDR-S350
TV: Sony KDL-52xBR6
DVD-CD: Sony 5 disk DVD/CD changer,
Phono: Kenwood KD65F automatic turntable

Your Onkyo is more than capable of driving the 70's all on it's own. Personally, I would forget the bi-amp idea. You could hook up the amp you have by the front left and right pre outs to see if it makes a difference and leave it set at 8 ohms, not 6. The 70's are some of the easiest floorstanders to drive in Polk's line up. I also suggest you read up on amplifiers and bi-amping, do a search, lots of threads on these subjects.HT SYSTEM-

The speaker setup on the Onkyo TX-NR808 only allows me choose 4 or 6 ohms

The manual says you select 6 for speakers 6 ohms and above (up to 16).
BTW The only reason I know this is cause I was researching that particular receiver. -
I try bi-amping before with my 70's but I didn't hear any difference, then I bought the Emo XPA-3 and then I felt a big difference, specially when playing music. Before I had a yamaha 663, so they increase in power was substantial.Samsung HP-T4254.
