Well these are like a mile away from me, so I thought what the hell if I can pick them up for $100 for the drivers alone it would be well worth it.

The guy was willing to go down on the price so I went to take a look at them.well the guy was going on about what great speakers these are, I was like well I like to refurb these old SDA's and that I have 3 sets at home.

I asked him about the SDA cable he had no clue what I was talking about. Keep in mind I'm just thinking parts here. well he turned on his system so I could hear how great they are.. I went to look more into them taking off the grills only to find two frozen drivers on the right one. the left one had a peerless tweeter (at least it was a polk tweeter) and the passive was trashed.

But to this guy they sounded great even without the cable he knew nothing about..lol

Of course I passed even for $100 there was nothing there even worth $50

Here is the link, I know this was posted a few days ago but I thought I would share how bad they really are.

http://denver.craigslist.org/ele/2076644268.html

It was a shame to see these in the shape they are in. I would have been upset had I drove accross town to look at such garbage..

You don't know what you missed out on man. Those are the ultra rare purple sda2's. They only made 1 pair of them back in 1988. They didn't use an interconnect cable, and came stock from the factory with a bad passive and 2 frozen drivers. If this was a bird in the hand I'd feel safe to say that it would be worth two in the bush.

Thank god, I take that as an offer to help. Bring a power sander by and I'll supply the beers. Id say it might be a good idea to redo the grill cloth in a crazy color but then again, if I just leave them off I'll likely trash the speakers quicker so they match the purple wonder boxes.

Dude, there are people on this earth that think BOSE speakers sound great . It can't be that surprising.

I saw this ad in the SDAs for sale thread.
I'm so glad someone went and saw these in person, if only for the confirmation. Although it is sad that they were treated so poorly. Still I get a laugh every time i see that picture. The guy probably was so proud of em, and thought they were the business.

    too funny

Make sure you use multiple coats, you don't want any of the black grille color to bleed through.

Is this an open invitation speaker "modding" party? If so, I can bring over my hammer to help freeze a couple drivers for you.

Someone locally just posted this TV to go with the stand and speakers. Now all we need to do is find the other audio components and we are set for a Barney weekend of enjoyment!
