Would a MOTIVA XPA-5 FIVE be a good choice for more sound out of this small system? Or any other better suited recommendations here?

Personally recommend going with a 3 channel amp for your front three and leaving your surrounds to the receiver as they normally dont need/require much wattage. 70% of your sound effects come from your front left/right speaker and 90% of your dialog comes from your center. Your surrounds normally just supply ambient sound and other placement sounds that dont require that much wattage to produce. Suggest the Emotiva XPA-3 or UPA-3. Either one would work great for those speakers. Personally suggest the XPA since it has more power if you ever look into 4 ohm speakers (like the LSi's)"....not everything that can be counted counts, and not everything that counts can be counted." Well that is even a couple of hundred cheaper, and might be all that I need for now. Still brand new about all this. Thanks for all the detail in your answer!

No problem. Always glad to help a fellow Polkie save a few bucks. If you have any other questions feel free to ask. All speakers benefit from more power INCLUDING the surrouds. They really came to life when I hooked them up to my 5 channel amp. What's more, if he listens to any sacd's or dvd-a's quite a bit of information comes from the back channels.
Do it once and do it right and you won't have to think about this particular upgrade for years.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2 -
Thanks for the input.
Wouldn't the upa-5 be a good choice? I just though that the xpa-3 would be to much for the cs2? -

There is no such thing as too much power. I have all of my speakers powered by a 5 channel Sunfire 405wpc amp and they sound great.
Having this much power you will know that your speakers will be getting all the power that they need to run to their full potential. Which is the whole point of amping them.
The Xpa-5 will power any speakers you have now and in the future, especially if you someday decide to step up to harder to drive speakers like the LSI series which definately needs at least 200wpc to sound their best.
I'm not one to constantly switch out gear and the try it and return it system will still cost money with return postage & time spent. If you got the Xpa-3 and liked it, then you would start wondering how good the rears will sound (been there done that) and that would be more money spent. Just get an Xpa-5 and be done with it.
I know that it is more money, but as I said, it will last you for years to come through all other upgrades to your system.Marantz AV-7705 PrePro, Classé 5 channel 200wpc Amp, Oppo 103 BluRay, Rotel RCD-1072 CDP, Sony XBR-49X800E TV, Polk S60 Main Speakers, Polk ES30 Center Channel, Polk S15 Surround Speakers SVS SB12-NSD x2 -
I will set my cash away for the xpa-5. I think that I will be happy with that. It will be the last upgrade that this little system will receive.
Thanks for all the Input!
