Jesse is right, it is personal taste and system matching I prefer the 2Bs to the 1cs for rock as they seem to have more punch and a slightly more forward sound. The bass seems cleaner also BUT your mileage may vary.

Sorry for the wide open question.I guess i am wondering if the 1C was supposed to be the best.It looks to be the biggest and baddest before they went to the SRS.I am trying to learn a bit more about the progression. So many SDA's,so little time.

It really depends on synergy,,tastes, and just how far you wanna' tweak em',,for most folks a pair of upgraded 2B's with good upstream components will get you 95% of the way,YMMV.

I agree with this statement, but a fully hot-rodded set of TL's with superb components is about as close to auditory bliss as I have ever heard.

I have decided to take the SDA plunge and was thinking of posting this same question today. I live in Texas close to the border. 200+miles away there are a pair of 1c's(550) a little farther 1a's (450)and 2b's(400) delivered. I know that my location works against me but I guess it would be easier to figure out what I want first. Never heard SDA's but I love my 10b's.

I had a pair of 2B's and 1C's a while ago. Still got the 2B's. Did the crossovers to the TL spec and put in RDO 198's. For some reason I like the single tweeter better than multiple tweeters in my basement. YMMV.

Speaking of upstream components with fully modded SDA 2B TL's, I just (2 hrs ago) got my little VTL ST-50 tube amp back from having major mods (http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=104696, post #29)

The 2B TL's are astounding. So far, no matter what mods I've made to upstream components, the 2B's have always sounded better with no hint of ever becoming the weak link in the chain.

One potential advantage, 2B's can handle RDO198-1's when upgraded and 1C's can't.

The icing on the cake is, with 2Bs, you can get in the door for less than half the price of some 1Cs.

Room size may factor in as well. 2B's will probably work very well in a smaller room. 1C's in a medium size room and larger SDA's in large rooms. There are as mentioned above many other factors but room size is something to consider. By the way, my 1C's blow my mind every time I listen to them.

I'm partial to the SDA1C having owned a few pairs of each model. As previously mentioned its personal. The cost savings would be something to consider as well.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

The SDA-1C and SDA-2B are very similar sounding speakers.

I own both and prefer the 1C on all fronts... including price, as I got the 1C's for less money than the 2B's.:smile:
