Or even sharpened edges on a credit card. Keys between your fingers can do some good damage too. Long fingernails could even hurt you really bad.
And all of those are at least as dangerous as a box cutter, which is reportedly the only weapon on board on 9/11.If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -
Israel doesn't 'profile' in the manner suggested by the PC crowd to discourage its use here- solely on race. They look into background, arrest records and regional factors. Why aren't we doing this? Because of PC.
When the concern about offending someone overides common sense and our safety the concern is not justified. Much is made about Al Queda's possible recruitement of white suburbanites, but that is a very small possibility compared to the fact that a majority of the 9-11 hijackers came from Saudi, not Boisey Id.
We should be profiling and keep the scans.

I wonder what that would look like on an x-ray scan? I'm a dentist and use a lot of composits in restorative work. These composits are all "radiopaque". Because of this they are all easily differentiated on radiographs (x-rays) from other structures and materials in the mouth.McIntosh MA252 Integrated Amp, LUMIN D2 Network Music Player, Yamaha Aventage RX-A840 receiver, Emotiva XPA Gen3 2 channel amp, Polk LSiM 703 speakers. I am sure they would show in a scan, but if the material was used to make a CC card shaped knife nobody would know the difference. Point is that if there is a will there is a way. Another little tidbit of food for thought........ya know those retractable aluminum shafts for the handles of wheeled carry-ons?? Sharpening the ends of those shafts would yeild a seriously deadly weapon that wouldn't require getting close to the victim, like a knife would. I can not beleive that they've been overlooked and are still permitted in the cabin.

As a complete side convo.....why is dental work so expensive? I mean, why is a root canal $4-500 and a crown another hefty chunk? Always wondered......
Should really start another thread on dentistry, I have a few stones to throw their way. Just paid 14 g's, yes 14 big ones for just work on the top teeth. Had alot of work done about 10 years ago,and it all started falling apart. Kinda one of those things that you had to get everything done or pay more later. Just like appliances, dental work by design isn't ment to last that long. With todays technology, you would think they could come up with a material to last longer.HT SYSTEM-

Holy crap!! Time to just give up and go with dentures! If you will it, dude, it is no dream. -
How many of you would actually be scared of a guy with a box cutter?"They who can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety."
Benjamin Franklin, February 17th, 1775.
"The day that I have to give up my constitutional rights AND let some dude rub my junk...well, let's just say that it's gonna be a real bad day for the dude trying to rub my junk!!"

A box cutter could sever an artery in your neck or on the underside of your arm- and many terrorists have studied anatomy. People are shanked in prison every day with similar blades. But scared compared to what? The plane crashing into a sky scraper? Most likely the box cutter would give the first guy in line a flesh wound before the terrorist was tackled, and that's what counts; getting the sob down.
You wouldn't worry about the flesh wound. Probably be too damned mad to notice. It wouldn't spoil my beauty because I don't have any. Worst case scenerio you'd lose an eye for your life. Good trade.
Then the guy would get a trial in NYC and be set free because I didn't read him his rights.
