    Awesome attitude.

The TSA has caught exactly ZERO terrorists or attempted terrorists. ZERO. They have made you exactly zero percent safer, but they have instituted a policy where your options are to get scanned with a possibly unsafe amount of radiation every time you fly (especially for frequent fliers, this is awesome) . And even smart people like shack think this is a great idea.

The 9/11 terrorists took down planes with BOX CUTTERS. Box cutters!! You know how easy it would be to slip box cutters through security EVEN TODAY? I accidentally got a full 3.5 inch pocket knife, which was entirely metal (even the non-blade) and knife shaped, through a major airport's security a month ago. A tiny razor encased in plastic? Or any other kind of impromptu weapon that would be just as effective? C'mon. None of this is going to stop that. NONE OF IT. Wake up.

Which part? Large amounts of radiation don't cause cancer? Why does your doctor wear a lead vest, foor fashion?

Did the 9/11 terrorists not use box cutters? Could they not have used pretty much ANYTHING if a bunch of passengers were cowed by 7 guys with razor blades?

Have any terrorists been caught by these new procedures?

Oh look, not one piece of BS. Except maybe the part about "smart guys like shack" apparently.

I had it in my backpack when I took tools home a while back. Used the back pack to travel. They caught it when I got on the plane to go home. I couldn't believe it.

The cancer thing is unproven but the fact that they're releasing it on the public without at least doing due dilligence is a concern. X-Rays do cause cancer in high enough doses, so it's not like it's overly alarmist.

The rest are things we call "facts." Sorry if they don't fit with your opinion, but they are still facts.

Gee, my small pocket screwdriver in my laptop bag has gotten spotted whenever I have forgotten to pull it out.
A guy with a knife would NEVER be able to hijack a plane anymore.
We all now all know they aren't playing around. They would not get control of the plane, and the passengers would most likely swarm them.
The new problem is stuff that goes "boom".

The dude with the bomb in his skivies that failed to detonate properly on the flight into Detroit would have been caught if he had been scanned. It was only due to the ineptitude of the terrorists that the bomb failed to bring down that plane. I imagine there are a few hundred passengers alive today from that plane that would have rather been scanned or patted down rather than rely on the ineptitude of terrorists.

    Sure sounds like opinion.
The TSA has caught exactly ZERO terrorists or attempted terrorists. ZERO.

I'm sure the TSA has shared every detention and arrest and the outcomes with you, so that must be a fact as well.

They've never touched me, that's not the point. They have, on the other hand, let me through with a weapon.

I don't know why it's such a bad thing to question these things. You have to draw the line SOMEWHERE, I think when the choice is either "have essentially a nude picture of you taken with possibly dangerous levels of radiation" or "get invasively groped", drawing the line there is REASONABLE, if open for debate to the individual.

And telling me not to fly because I don't like the rules is pretty much the same as me telling you not to fly because you don't like the danger. Or repeating the retarded mantra about government policy that "if you don't like it you can just get out." It's not getting anyone anywhere.

If they ever can make a device that, while being more thorough, is actually faster then I say go for it. IT takes 15-20 seconds PER PERSON to go through those rotation scanners, and about 2 seconds to walk through the metal detectors.

I'm not goign to be scanned/xrayed unless it's the only option.

i guess the full body scanners are quite revealing to say the least.. they may not be touching your junk, but they certainly will be seeing it soon enough. it has lots of implications for mis-use with full body scanners.

how soon are there going to be images popping up on the net about this naked actress or that famous person who is now nekkid? it's bound to happen.

Given how stupid many people are, that would prevent terrorists.

There are, from what I gather, two types of full body scanners used:
    1. Backscatter Technology
    2. Millimeter Wave Technology

Backscatter raises concerns among some because it uses small doses of ionizing radiation. The use of millimeter-wave technology hasn’t received the same attention, and "radiation experts" say it poses no known health risks.

The "ionizing radiation" stuff is concerning. I would assume that the ionizing source is securely contained within the scanning machine. Need to do a little more digging to find out.
The "radiation expert" stuff is not particulary re-assuring, IMO. With not too much cash, an "expert" can be found to testify a duck is a chicken. In days of yore, some doctors testified how great cigarettes were for you.

Having said that, though: There's more chance of surviving a full body scan, IMO, than from free-falling from 20,000 feet (no matter how many times I say, "Aw, son of a beeeeeyitch !!!") when I get sucked out of the hole in the side of the plane just created by Mr. Exploding Fruit of the Looms.

Haven't flown for a while, but I'm thinking a double dose of Viagra 2 hours before departure should make for a memorable full body scan. Probably should ask for 8 X 10 glossies afterwards.

Don't have to worry about anybody touching your junk when you fly out of Cuba! I set off the metal detector on my way out and they just waved me on through. (You can also take anything liquid as a carry-on) They are an efficient bunch those Cuban security people! It makes me chuckle to think that it is easier to leave Cuba than any other country! lol

Israel doesn't 'profile' in the manner suggested by the PC crowd to discourage its use here- solely on race. They look into background, arrest records and regional factors. Why aren't we doing this? Because of PC.

When the concern about offending someone overides common sense and our safety the concern is not justified. Much is made about Al Queda's possible recruitement of white suburbanites, but that is a very small possibility compared to the fact that a majority of the 9-11 hijackers came from Saudi, not Boisey Id.

We should be profiling and keep the scans.
