LSi 9's bi-amped question

This thread is in advance of an upgrade happening late this year or early next year. I am upgrading my Monitor 60's to LSi 7's or 9's (9's more likely). I have a Carver AV-705X. It can handle 4ohm loads from some reviews a saw a long time ago, something like 293 watts per channel (2 channels driven). My current amp has problems running 5 channels, but I am probably going to ship it out to be worked on either to Rita in CO. or Rolland in Oregon.

I am looking to bi-amp the fronts (or have that option) and run the LSiC Center from seperates. I plan to keep the Monitor 40's as surrounds. Here are my questions:

1) Is it worth it to bi-amp LSi 9's or should I just run the front three using 3 channels of the Carver (assuming it can handle that load)

2) Is it possible/recommended to split one channel from your pre-pro to 2 channels of the same amp (i.e. driving your right speaker with channel 1 & 2 from the same amp)
2a) If its possible what splitter/y adaptor would you recommend I use?

3) Anyone know offhand if the Carver can handle 5 channels of a 4 ohm load? I have had trouble finding anything saying it can (and I obviously dont want to blow it)

4) If the Carver cant handle that load, should I sell it before or after fixing it?
4a) If before fixing what price?
4b) If after fixing what price?

5) If I need a new amp would you recommend the Emotiva UPA-5 (bi-amping L&R), XPA-3, or XPA-5 (bi-amping L&R), UPA-7 (bi-amping L&R and running surrounds as well)

Like I said I have lots of time on this and plan to read up as much as possible, but thought I would tap the wealth of the forums knowledge first.

I've used a Sunfire Cinema Grand 5 channel amp and an Emotiva XPA-5 to bi-amp my LSI-15's. There was no significant difference over a standard wiring setup. I really don't think it's worth it. I'd put my money into better wires instead.
