Anyone familiar with this amp think it is sufficient for driving the 3.1's or 15's?
It has always been decent on the SDA2's i have but what bugs me is that i do not know where i am at on the wattage scale when i use it.
In other words i don't want to hurt these speakers. I dont plan to try and blow the roof off but i want to have some room to move. Also don't know what i'm getting out of this amp as far as clean power (if any)
I'm still abit confused as to whether these are 8 ohm or 6 ohm speaks.
Any help is greatly appreciated.:o
Thanks
Mike

Not familiar with that amp. By the numbers, it looks OK as far as power nearly doubling when going from an 8 ohm to a 4 ohm load. The 3.1 or the 15TL can handle a bunch of power, and the more you give it, the better they will sound.

I didn't see any clipping indicators on the amp, so you will need to take it easy.....if you hear the drivers bottoming out, TURN IT DOWN.

Not sure about the 15s but the 3.1TLs are much closer to a 4 ohm speaker than the "compatible with 8 ohm outputs" claim that Polk states.

Both are listed as 8 ohm in the literature.

    Recommended power is 30-250 wpc for the 15's ( http://www.polksda.com/pdfs/RTA_TL_Sales_Brochure.pdf )

    50-500 wpc for the 3.1TL ( http://www.polksda.com/pdfs/SRS3.1TLBrochure.pdf )

So, you are comfortably half of that and need a bigger amp ;)

It is that "nominal impedence" thing that had me wondering.I'm looking for that bigger amp but trying to be patient til the right deal comes along. Thanks all.

Considering that the Hafler is a Pro-Amp and not necessarily a Hi-Fi Amp and honestly underrated power (120W per side Nominal) wise for 3.1's or 15's I would consider something else to run them.

I will say I have heard a Hafler 2400 in studio when working on my old bands CD and it did sound quite nice although we tried an Alesis that was weaker 50w per ch and that sounded better to me personally. Also the listeneing done was nearfield, in almost perfect listening position and in a room designed for just that purpose.

I know my SDA2's sing with the Rotel RB-1050 only 70w per ch used for critical listening at low volume or my Adcom GFA-555 used for parties work quite nice. Both can be found used for a lot less than a new amp and will really help those speakers shine.
