Hi,

I have a VSX-49TXi receiver paired with RTI-12's. Is that is supposed to be a pretty good unit in terms of driving my tower speakers?

Also, I am in doubt if the receiver is not functioning properly ( power / soundstage / volume wise) - not sure if its the speakers or the amp - bought both used.

Anyone who has the above receiver (which is more suspect) who can help answer a few questions?

A) Is this a good unit to drive the speakers
B) The idle power consumption on my amp is 375 watts (using kill a watt meter) - is this normal?
C) Is it usual for the unit to heat up to the point where its pretty darn warm to touch?

Thanks,

ES

I have the same reciever and it should drive those speakers. Not sure about the power consumption, but it does tend to get hot.

Is the receiver set up properly ? Are you running a sub in the system ? Are you running an amp,if so what kind? Have you checked the speaker wire ? Make sure none of the plastic is caught inside the bidding posts on the speaker, amp. What cables are you using? A tad more info brother if you want some help.
