Towers, center, rear di/bipoles and the all-important control center.

No affil.

I can vouch that these are 'reasonably' good sounding speakers. :D:p

That has gotta be one of the most AMAZING speakers systems I have ever heard, and an excellent deal as well to whomever decides to jump on it...

The SRT was imo the last great example of the outrageous, monstrous, multiple-driver large speaker era that reached its peak there in the 1990's.
My stereo system: Usher CP-6311, Denon AVP-8000, Adcom GFA-555II, Sony CP-C725, Furman PL-Plus.

Built and gave this system to my dad: B&W CDM-1SE atop Krell LAT-2 stands, Proceed PAV-S, Adcom GFA-555II, Denon DVD-2500.

grrr....Can't pull the trigger on those cuz I'm between homes, and my buddy who is letting me stay with him in his small condo would kill me. lol
Also I have to get prequalified for a mortgage loan. I'm sure they would think twice about giving me the loan if they saw me spending major chunks of money while I'm looking for a place. hahah.
I'm new to the forum, this is only my 2nd post. Apparently, I can't respond to private messages since I'm new.

Too bad. Once you got these, you'd not need look elsewhere ever again for home theater. I'd 'store' them for you! :D Welcome to the club!

BTW, be sure to check out the Fall 2010 Polkie Get Together thread in the Gatherings & Special Events section of the forum. I'm hosting a meet this fall in Escondido.

Oh, btw, I forgot to mention...I did luck into some great speakers here locally in SoCal. You folks might be aware of them because they were on Craiglist. Pristine, brand new cs1000, 2 fx1000's, and 2 rt2000's.
They seller said he'd never used them. He had intended to set them up in a house he was building, then he ended up moving. He had since then moved several times, always bringing the speakers with him from place to place.
I went to look at them to see for myself. Yes, they were pristine. And i could tell he was very meticulous by the way he/we slid them out of the boxes to inspect them. Everything was new....manuals as well.
So I nabbed them and he delivered them to me and here they sit in my buddy's condo in the original boxes. My friend is a great guy and very easy going, but I thinki I would be testing the limits of our friendship if I were to buy EVEN MORE speakers right now...hahah.
Anway, they system came with two fx1000's. I'm in the market for 2 more, but I can't respond privately to messages here in the forum yet.

Oh, very cool, dpowell. Escondido is not far.

And hey! Don't tempt me with that offer to store!! lol

Oh, btw, here is what I have so far....Just need to get that house, darn it!

I've got the 50 inch Pioneer Elite plasma, I just bought these speakers, I got a great deal on a Monster Power conditioner from Ken Crane's. I've got my eye on the Integra 70.2 avr that will be coming out in the fall....Or maybe the current Denon 4801 that is b eing discounted right now....Denon i've heard is kind of a pain in the arse, and i'm a newbie. I've heard the Integra is a much simpler component to operate.

That's it! I was contemplating going with a 2 sub set up. And wondered if the dsw pro500 would work well with what I have so far...Opinions?

Nice system so far! Did you grab those NIB RT2000's, CS1000P and FX1000's that the guy had forever on CL? What did you end up paying if you don't mind the question? You will be very happy with that setup for a good long time. Just don't listen to the SRT's if you come down. :D Get an SVS sub if you can. You'll not regret that decision and you won't need dual subs. :D

Well, some might think I paid too much. fifteen hundred. Yes, I think they had been listed awhile.
I looked at it this way: I was going to go with current models. RTI A9 sides which would have set me back fifteen hundred just for the two speakers. Kim at Polk Audio said that the center channel was highly prized among Polk enthusiasts. I looked around and didn't see any others for sale, so I decided to go for it. These were like brand new. I'm happy. That's what counts.
Yes, I am tempted to go for the SVS sub. But I've seen the dsw pro500's going for $299.

So going dual subs for 600 bucks? That's what has me debating. But I've heard the SVS ultra is amazing.

Speaking of CL, I was trying to get ahold of a guy in Laguna Beach who had a pair of the fx1000. He was asking $500 for the pair. I was trying to get ahold of him but got no response, but I had trouble getting ahold of the first guy I bought my speakers from too.

Any idea about the guy in Laguna Beach as far as if he sold them?

Well, I would say that value is the eye of the buyer. To get them all new with boxes adds some value but you probably overpaid a bit on the RT2000P's but not by much. The others are hard to find and the bottom line is you are happy. No ideas about the others you saw listed. Haven't been watching for them for awhile. $500 seems to be at the top end of what they're worth used depending on condition. Guess it depends on how desperate you are to get them.

Haven't heard Polk's latest subs but I can tell you that even the non-ultra models of the SVS are awesome.

If you can wait a month or two, I was thinking I would be asking in the $450 range for my FX1000's and you could pick them up if you came down for the San Diego Polkie get-together.

Yes. Even if I overpaid a little bit, they were local so I could actually go examine them personally. They were new in their boxes, and I was already preparing to spend more for RTi A9 sides, CSi A6 center, and the 4 matching surrounds which would have put me at at least $2,500 and more expecially with tax included. So I'm cool with it.

Yes, please keep me in mind for your surround speakers. I'm in no hurry since I don't have a house yet.

    Thanks!

Nice grab there Leftcoast. I was back and forth on those speakers, but never got to go see them in person. I am always looking for the full rt5000 set.

Thanks, civilian. It was a pretty significant selling point that I could examine them personally. Do you live in this area?
I see you are a Denon guy, which brings me to my next step in building my HT. Which receiver? I see that the Denon avr-4810 is now 1,800 bucks online. Not quite comparable, but close is the Integra dtr-70.1, or most probably the 70.2 that is coming out soon. The current Denon is able to do front high and front wide simultaneously. I believe with the Integra it is either or but not both. Will I be buying a house with a high ceiling? Don't know....some I've looked at have them, some don't. Also I've read less than stellar reviews of what the extra speakers do for actual listening pleasure, BUT also that even if you don't use the front wide/high setup, you can still utilize the extra channels. One last point is that I've heard the Integra is more user friendly than the Denon.
The price I can get for the Denon is comparable to what I'd pay for the Integra.

Hopefully this post wasn't too confusing. I'm a newbie, but I've always been the type to get good stuff to begin with rather than upgrade, and I'll catch up on the learning as i go.

Please be patient with me. I realize you folks know alot about this than I do.

Price drop. $4500 down to $2500. Looks like a motivated seller.

Yes, I sent him a message, but messages I've sent in CL in the past have not gotten through to the seller.

I'll try sending him another one.

Check out the Pioneer Elite lineup. Their receivers have excellent room correction and adding one to my HT has taken it to an entirely new level of performance and SQ.
