Polk S10's - can anyone tell me about them? :)

I have a pair of S10 floorstanding 3-ways that were my first serious speaker. I originally received them over 15 years ago (oh my God....:() and they went through a lot of the abuse of college and law school. A few years ago, I replaced with them with a couple of other pairs from different manufacturers (B&W, Boston Acoustics), but I kept the S10's. The problem is that one of the mids has always had a scratchy coil sound to it and both speakers need refurbishment.

Are they worth restoring? I'm pretty sure new crossovers would have to be installed (I have no capability of performing such work). The cabinets are in ok/presentable condition and the other drivers (the woofers and tweeters) are fine, I think....

Are they good speakers? Worth keeping? I tried searching the forums, but was unable to come up with any posts so your information and help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks, guys and girls!

I guess that depends on how much parts are and how much work you can do. I would not put a real high value on a used set. They were also my first real speakers I had them a year and traded them in for RT16's.

There are plenty of used and refurbished speakers on the market in near mint condition that would probably cost less than refurbishing yours and sound better. I love the RT series. Besides my RT16's I have 12's 7's and 5's.
