SDA 1C's Getting Better and Better

I purchased some studio 1C's a several months ago and after trying different amps and some tube rolling on my Tube Box II, I settled on what I found to be a satisfying configuration.

The strange thing is they are sounding better and better, the more I listen to them. :confused:

I was impressed with these at first but I get goose bumps when I listen to them now, which is quite often.:eek:

I pulled some of the drivers to check them out and they have that gray caulking stuff in strips all over them.

I haven't checked out the crossovers. I got the speakers in the original boxes and packaging from ebay but I know the seller was a member of Polk Forum.

I couldn't be happier with them and I am glad I didn't go the Martin Logan route I was toying with.:)

    The gray caulking sounds like mortite. I've had mine nearly a year and the wow factor has not diminished one bit. Perhaps yours had some new drivers installed and they are now fully broken in, or perhaps you are just getting used to the delicious sound the 1C's offer. Enjoy!

    Sweet! I like the Studio SDA-1Cs. Would be curious to see what the crossovers look like, though that's not as easy with these as other models. Have yet to even hook up my 1Cs... from what I hear they're quite incredible!

    The fact that they get better and better sounding is interesting.

    I would pull the XO's. Since they where moritied the owner def. knew a thing or two.

    I would think that he would have mentioned the modded XO's.

    Def. worth the upgrade.
