Looks like they could be cleaned up a little, but in good shape otherwise. They have the 198s, so that's a plus. Good find. There are plenty of Jerseyites(is that a word)??:D that should be able to snag these (hopefully).

"I'm yet to hear a Polk speaker that merits more than a sentence and 60 seconds discussion." :\
My response is: If you need 60 seconds to respond in one sentence, you probably should't be evaluating Polk speakers.....

Good for you. I have these exact same speakers and they sound great. I am sure you will be pleased with them. Do the recommended tweeks on them and you'll be even happier.

They did make a studio version the 3.1TLs as shown in the pics. They were not painted black. It's the way they came. The thickness of the wood is different on the studios vs. the non-studio 3.1TLs I believe. It certainly is with the studio 2Bs vs. the non-studio 2Bs. The wood is almost twice as thick and it's real wood.

Ed, does this mean that you now also have to look for a non-studio version of the 3.1? :D

I thought "studio" models were all vinyl sided. They were on SDA 1's and 2's. Along with a strip of vinyl below the grill.
The 3.1TL's I owned look just like Engtaz's and the ones on Ebay except they were Oak. Same thickness of wood, top and bottom, as well as side cloth and real wood strip along the back edge of the cabinet.
I don't think they offered the 3.1 in a studio model. I have the factory brochure as well, and it says nothing about a studio model. Just my .03 cents. (adjusted for inflation)

I finally got them home. The cabinets are in excellent condition.
They need work. I had to replace both tweeters and two drivers. They where reburbished by the store were the previous owner bought them. They replaced the tweeters with 2 sl2500 and glued two puncture wounds on 2 drivers. Luckily I had 1 driver and both tweeters.
I need a MW6503 driver to complete the repairs. Anyone has a 6503 for sale?
