This recording is something special.I was really apprehensive about spending $60.00+ on a CD but after listening to it(twice in a row)I'm glad I did. What really stands out for me are the precussion instruments, they sound very real on this disc. All the songs sound great especially track 6 "I Got The News".This disc is worth every penny I paid for it.
If you can't hear a difference, don't waste your money.

I've been going back and forth between the new SACD-SHM and the original SACD of Layla for awhile now and it's kind of driving me crazy. To keep my sanity, I quit listening for the night. That said, right now I think they are so close that if you have the original there's no point, sonics wise, in buying the new one.

I have to update my comments above.

After a good nights sleep and a different method of comparison I have come to the conclusion that even though they share the same 2004 master, the SACD-SHM is the better of the two. I could hear further into the music, it's smoother and the bass is cleaner. The original SACD almost sounds rough in comparison.

I'm sold on these SACD-SHM's and just ordered 3 more, 461 Ocean Blvd., Fillmore and Let It Bleed.

    It's here!!

(the faint vertical line comes from my HP scanner....it's not on the packaging)

Haven't had a chance to listen to it. I'm really impressed by the packaging though. Looks like the SACD was pressed by Japan Sony.

How did you do that? I thought SACD's architecture prevented any type of copying.

I received Let It Bleed, Fillmore East and 461 Ocean Blvd. today, they did not disappoint. I'm not sure how, but even the original SACD master of Let It Bleed is improved on the SACD-SHM. On track 5, Let It Bleed, at 35 seconds on the SACD-SHM version I could clearly hear the sound of something falling over, possibly a mike stand. I never heard this on the original SACD. Hmmm...I went back and played the original SACD and it is there, but it's very hard to make out and actually sounds like a glitch in the recording. The clarity on these SACD-SHM's is nothing short of amazing.

Thanks Mike! Some time soon, I hope to make the journey to Jesse's house as it's been quite awhile since I've been there and am lusting to hear the improvements he's made to his rig and to hear these SHMs on that magnificent kw SACD player.

Very interesting Jesse. I can't wait to get my ears on some more of these.
I wish I could pony-up for all of them at once. I'm hoping I can still get LIB in August.

Great choices but what just knocked me out of my chair was seeing, "Wishbone Ash!" I haven't seen or thought about them in many moons.

They had a previous SACD release, domestically. It was available at Best Buy for something like $14.00.
