What is the interest in these?
Picture, sound, other things?
Before DVD they were the epitome of video reproduction, the first to actually have AC3 ( Dolby Digital) or DTS surround sound.

Re: Laserdisc-The godfather of ALL consumer optical disc media

Just got this for my DVL-91
It’s NOS (New Old Stock) and so can definitely see a difference between this and the cable I had been using. Which was just an audio cable that I grabbed and used.
I was using Monster M1000sv S-Video cable out to the Onkyo previously before I got the Marantz.
Howevah
The Marantz doesn’t have S-Video ins. Just a couple of Composite video ins.
Which is fine, because unlike S-VHS VCR’s. Laserdiscs don’t lay down the Chroma (Color) and brightness (black and white) information separately-The reason why S-Video connectors were created. Laserdisc players used their color decoders to separate them out and send them down to your monitor or receiver. Sometimes they were better than the ones in the TV 📺 and sometimes not.
So maybe you could see a difference between the S-Video and Composite and maybe not, depending on what you were using.
In this case the Marantz is converting the signal to HDMI and sending it out to the monitor.

Re: Laserdisc-The godfather of ALL consumer optical disc media
Once he got the transport mechanism on the other player cleaned up (the old lubricant that they used turns into gum when it gets old he said) He took another look at my original player and using the new player as a template, realized whet the issue was with the older player and fixed it! He changed out the power supply as well with the one I brought him a year ago. So the player you see in the pic is the one I’ve had for over a decade. The one I bought recently is still at the shop. I expect I’ll be hearing from him sometime next year.

@xjghost Not sure if this would be a viable option, but maybe you can ship it to Electronics Service Center in Germantown, Maryland. That’s where mine are. They do good work and they have a website. You would have to be very patient though.

Scrota. Neuter gender plural. But I prefer scrotes.
Yes. and that's okay🤔
....not that that's a bad thing. 🫣
I, myself, prefer pie 😇
Says he who spends half his waking hours on a forum with a bunch of scrotes.

Re: GESHELLI LABS DAC J2
All hooked up and doing its thing with the optical signal from my old Sony CDP-508ESD! Mainly wanted to see how the internal DAC in it compared to this and then decide whether the Sony is still up to the task all these years later, or use the Sony as a transport with the J2, or chase an entirely new CD player. I'll get a better feel tomorrow or the next day, but sounds d@mn good so far! Nice wide soundstage, great detail, very "musical" (natural/neutral) and dynamic.
Excellent job of packaging by @pearsall001 and all at a great price, perfect for a DAC noob like me, as he said. Thank you!
Another in a string of nothing but great experiences with the members here.

Re: Blue Jeans Cable Ten White Speaker Cable 30FT w/Spades - New
I like my BJC 10-White speaker cables.
It's 10 gauge Belden 5000 series for anyone not familiar. Pleasing budget cable.
I've found that I like this better than Canare Starquad, which I once found to sound thin and a little edgy in a known warm system, but that was years ago, and things have changed significantly since then and when I put in the 10-Whites. So who knows, maybe it would be different now, but that experience stuck with me. I know some of you like the Canare SQ.
The 10-White is good budget-y cable, imho. If someone didn't need a 30ft cable, Eric's shipped price here is a little less than you could buy bulk 10-White cable for from BJC.
Throw on some Kimber spades or bananas...
I use BJC in my Audioengine 2.1 desktop systems. This is not to say it's *only* good for secondary, non-critical systems. When I set up my Wharfedale Lintons in the main space with the Harman Kardon 990 around 2yrs ago, I used 10-White because I needed custom longer runs, and my 12ft MIT Shotgun S3s were not long enough with all the bends and placement, not to mention, already wired to the L800s, which have been parked since then.

Re: Weather at Your House?
No comment about that squadron of UFOs UAPs?!? Did they have anything to do with the weather? As usual, the MSM's suppressing the truth!
Rare for northeast Texas. About 6” since yesterday morning. Supposed to get up to about 36 degrees today, so it won’t last long.
ahem
Snowing here this morning -- the ground's been bare for more than a week here, which was/is most unusual.
