  • Nostalgia bump! Hard to tell with the new forum and deleted posts/threads but I think this was one of the first threads I ever posted in here after buying my first set of Polk Audio speakers, MMC690 6x9's for my 2002 Dodge Ram at Circuit City in Te…
  • I really like the look of the new home page. I never did like the wood panel look of the old one. Never made sense to me. Maybe for Home Depot or something but not a speaker company. Much better now.
  • I had to re-seed most of my front yard back in June. I along with several neighbors used some Weed and Feed and it killed half our lawns for some reason. No idea what we did wrong but oh well. I tried fescue and it wouldnt grow. Got some centipe…
  • They already have been out for a long time. They are very good speakers but it's time for something new. My SR6500's are approaching 10 years old and gonna be wearing out eventually. I'd like something worthy of replacing them with. The Focal Flax a…
  • AsSiMiLaTeD wrote: » MacLeod, I assume your post is directed at just the car audio division, because Polk is still making great gear for the home audio crowd and some of their personal audio products are good as well. Thats good to know. I…
  • I dont know what I think about the new format. Its not nearly as polished as the last version but its workable. Maybe with a few tweaks it can be solid. Either way I voted for the VBulletin. Ive been here since 2003 and I preferred the format …
  • Probably is time for a refresh because theyve been out a pretty good while but I havent heard anything about it out of the rumor mill but I am pretty way out of the loop these days on car audio rumors. Would like to see something new from them and …

  • These new Polk amps seem to run hot. I read a lot of people mentioning it. The old PA amps ran really hot as well. I think Polk spent a little too much time designing a heat sink to look a certain way and not really thinking about how itll cool. …
  • Those are built to work best in a free air installation like a car door. Building an enclosure won't hurt necessarily but it'll need to be a little large. Large enough that it won't fit inside a door. Where are you planning on mounting these?
  • You must have seen very many. I've owned several and they've all worked just fine. Never had a problem out of any of them.
  • Where did you buy the amp? If it was from eBay or something like that, there's a good chance you got a crappy refurbished amp. Seems like there is a rash of crap Polk gear out there in these unauthorized retailers lately. If you bought it thru an au…
  • Nope.
  • Have you already bought everything? If not, Id suggest just spending your speaker money on a set of the MM6501's in the front bi-amped off that 4 channel amp would be a better way to go. $225 right now on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Polk-Audi…

  • Are you planning on using aftermarket front speakers? If so why not just buy a SVC sub and run it off the rear channels bridged mono and then the front channels can drive the front speakers. That would be a nice easy way to get things set up and I'm…
  • Give it a try. Like I said, it's not going to blow up or anything and while I think it could add the wear and tear if you're not hammering on it then it might not matter that much.
  • TJeep_1999 wrote: » We'll cover the second point first b/c I can speak to it and eliminate it as a point of concern. You don't need a mono amp to run a sub. I may be dating myself here, but class A/B amps have pushed subs for years long before mon…
  • Yeah I wouldn't want to do that. The output stages will be a little different and if you've got one voice coil getting say 200 watts and the other getting 225 it could be an issue. Plus you don't really want to use Y splitters cause they add noise a…
  • Yep. I've got 2 sets of the SR's and the only way I'm getting rid of them is from my cold dead hand. LOL! One of the best woofers ever made IMO with one of the best small format tweeters ever.
  • Well that sucks. Maybe youre right and once you dig into the doors, its just something inside the door itself thats causing the problem and not the speaker itself. Thats happened to me a time or two. Think a speaker has crapped out and its a piece…
  • Check out the Polk MM subs. They're pretty shallow and work very well. I've been running a pair of them for a couple of years now and love them. There are some other brands on Crutchfield that offer shallow mount subs.
  • I used to have a 2002 Dodge Ram Quad Cab myself. The stock speaker openings wont accept a lot of aftermarket 6x9's so youll have to do some modifications. I actually had to cut some sheet metal. Not a whole lot but still had to trim some. If you…

  • Yeah i definitely miss Tweeter. I used to go in there all the time. Had the Polk Momo 6's and JL Audio XR's side by side with theBoston Z's too. Bought several things from them. Just not a big enough market to support a high end B&M store.
  • You can always do something like this custom box from Zenclosures. Itll run ya around $150 shipped and fits nice and snug with the trunk's trim lines and eats up the least amount of trunk space. Im seriously thinking about getting one of these for…
