    I would find a big picture of a cup of beer... and photoshop it on top of the thing...

    Looks like a gigantic popcorn bowl holder or drink coaster..

    Could be any platter/ drive. The control is not from a Thorens. It's an SME II tonearm, and it does look a little low to me as well.
