Monitor 12 speakers

I have a chance to buy some Monitor 12's. I know they are not the series 2. However I do not know if they are the A, B, or C of the original model as I haven't seen them yet. Was there a big difference in the three? Is one more desirable than the others? I have been seaching for information but haven't come up with much. What is a fair price for these speakers in good condition? Finally, can anyone post a picture? The only picture I'm finding on Polk's site is the series 2 version. Thanks.

All the Monitor 12's (not to be confused with the RTA Monitor12's) look roughly the same. As with other Monitors they went through driver changes. Tweeters will produce the most obvious difference.

If they're in good shape, a pair will fetch $400 to $500 on ebay. Highest I've seen was $600. Lowest $100, but they'd been in a flood from the look of them.

Thanks for the info. A'm I correct in assuming all Monitor 12's had the tweeter mounted on top with the crossover?

So don't go along for the ride. Obviously this is a confusing issue or maybe I'm just dense. Either way I'm only asking for help not sarcasm. Sincerely,

From the way Steve's post sounds, I'd say yours is completely in line. (Though you can't get facial expressions and intonations with just text - so who knows...

Sorry I can't help with the problem, but I seem to rememeber there being a pretty good thread about this sometime last year. If you do a search on it, you'd probably come up with a bunch of information.

Nope... those are the RTA Mon 12's.

Mon 12's had the tweeter in the cabinet.

Oh. Oops. The thread I mentioned earlier, then, was about the RTA Monitor 12s. However, you could probably still find a lot of information about the Monitor 12s by searching for them.
