Monitor 10 Owner for the Thrid Time, but these are different

Today picked up a nice pair of Monitor 10's with the Polk Stands. But there was a couple of things that threw me off. The cabinet color was too light color, the tweeter was different from the other two I have owned and the serial is a very high number (200476 and 200475)

Other; M10 series II, M7C's, Hafler XL600 amp, RB-980BX, Parasound HCA-1500 amp , P5 preamp, all in storage. All vintage Polk have had crossover rebuilds and tweeter upgrades.

Careful use of your vacuum cleaner. -
Some vacuum hoses are the correct size to go over it. Now you must be very very careful. Press it against turn it on and off fast DO NOT TRY TO PULL IT OFF UNTIL IT IS NO LONGER SUCKING!!
I've used that method many times I cannit stress enough how careful you need to be. OR you will RUIN IT! -
Can I use tape? I have a Rainbow Vacuum and. Believe she will just rip the dustcap offI am now COMMON-GROUND

The rainbow can be regulated at the nozzle base, there should be a trap door at the handle. My rents own one.

I have never ever had that happen you are just flipping the switch on off that fast. Tape sometimes works good try it. Sucking on a paper towel roll may work

I've used old duct tape a bunch of times. It's super tacky.
Most people just listen to music and watch movies. I EXPERIENCE them. -

Moisten the dust cap with warm water and an artists brush (It's cloth). Let it sit for a minute or two, then use the vacuum method, a quick on/off. It may take a few cycles. Perseverance is key.

I know is not a " FAIR " Fight but doing a little A&B using the Polk Monitor 8t that I currently ownI am now COMMON-GROUND -
The 8t’s will likely expose the midrange “quack” that the 10’s have.

You'll probably be able to push the 8t's harder (if you're into that like I used to be). The mids will be more natural (warmish), that's been my experience anyway. The 8t's are really overlooked, IMHO, and don't get much respect...Remember, when you're running from something, you're running to something...-me

The fight has placed the 8ts as a clear winner over the monitors in some regards but damn... I thought it was going to be the monitors all the way. Some times the little guy has to winI am now COMMON-GROUND

A buddy of mine had some 10’s when they were in production but I always thought 8t’s were the better of the two. Don’t know why I never really liked them. The 7’s, now that’s a different story! Different strokes for different folks...Remember, when you're running from something, you're running to something...-me

Hit a lower range while in the same volume range
Here is the kicker both can do very crisp highs (but I think they share the same tweeter) but then again I could be wrong

Maybe the 10's needed more play time since the pawn shop owner told me they had been sitting for over a year, but they get better by the dayI am now COMMON-GROUND
