RTA11T Not TL RDO194 drop in?

Could someone please tell me if the 194 is a drop in replacement for the RTA11T? (NOT TL) No changes to the crossover needed right?

I've had these for a few years now and they have always been on an old Pioneer HTR in the living room doing tv duty. I placed them in my movie room on the Parasound amp tonight and I really like them. But now I can hear how how harsh the oem silver dome tweeters (SL2000?) can be. I may take them off the market and keep them if the 194 or 198 are drop in.

Thanks for any info guys.

Those are SL2000’s, so the RD-0194 is the drop in replacement. :)
    Glad you’re enjoying them!

The 11T will also respond nicely to upgraded crossover caps.

I'm sure they would but I'm knee deep in the RTA12B crossover refresh.

I picked up a pair of the RTA11t's and did the full restore of the cabs, basket, tweets and crossovers and was shocked how superb they sound!

The 194 is the Drop-in replacement. They can also be modified rather easily for the 198s if you ever decide to upgrade the crossovers.

I see the oem 11T is rated at 6 ohms. Any chance putting the 194 tweeter in them would change that at all? I was hoping it might increase it a little....

Ok thanks. I was looking at amps that I could bridge for a center channel that would be safe at 6 ohms. Most seem to only be good with 8 ohm when bridged. I may end up using one of these 11t as a center channel for a few months with the 12b as mains. Looks like I'll have to raise the tv about 3 inches on the mount to fit the 11t under it.

Finding a single RTA12B for a center has been impossible.

    Get yourself one of these;

    Polk CS350 or

    Polk CS1000P.

    :)

I'm really picky when it comes to center channels. My next center will be a 3 way. I want a dedicated mid. I'd really like a
JBL LS Center or this newer B&W

I just missed a JBL LS Center on Ebay with a buy it now price of only $375 with free shipping. That was a smoking deal. I usually see them at $750 and up.

Problem is: the 11t and 12b don't have a dedicated mid...

I know, but I could settle for a 12b to match the front channels. The 11t will only be temporarily used as a center.

Your reasoning is a little unsound imo
There is little there in the low end in most cases. I've ran a 3way and did it full range little was there in my case. A good 2 way crossover is much simpler to make. I used mine for both movies and music as long as your center does a good job down to 50hz you should be good. A dedicated mid for a center mean one speaker is doing most of the work. I'd rather have two GOOD well blended drivers working together than one doing most of the work.
