Love the guy, still sounds decent but can't hit those high notes like he used to. Still, makes me wonder why he didn't sing at their Hall of Fame induction. Thought he said he couldn't sing anymore. Or was it his way of saying he's moving on from the band. A bonehead move if you ask me, and only further cements the divide between him and the band.

Meh, I guess he finally came to terms of being thrown out of Journey.

I imagine this will be like pouring maple syrup in your ears.

2 channel: Anthem 225 Integrated amp; Parasound Ztuner; TechnicsTT SL1350; Vincent PHO-8 phono pre; Marantz CD6005 spinner; Polk SDA2BTL's; LAT International speaker cables, ZU Mission IC's and power cables all into a PS Audio Dectet Power center.

Other; M10 series II, M7C's, Hafler XL600 amp, RB-980BX, Parasound HCA-1500 amp , P5 preamp, all in storage. All vintage Polk have had crossover rebuilds and tweeter upgrades.

The best way to predict the future is to invent it.

It is imperative that we recognize that an opinion is not a fact.

Imagine making politics your entire personality.
  • At 68, you can tell the range has (rightfully) diminished, but still nice to hear.

The replacement singer in Journey, Arnel Peneda, kicks derriere and is pretty classy, IMO.

JOURNEY vocalist Arnel Pineda (pictured) says that the door is open for the band's former lead singer Steve Perry to rejoin group, saying that "it's [Steve's] righteous place" and explaining that he wants to see Perry and his JOURNEY bandmates "happy together."

That's from 4 years ago, so it would seem that Steve Perry has chosen to not take up the offer.

Perry gave Arnel a lot of praise at the Hall of Fame induction speech; I thought that was a class move by Perry.

And also the reason Perry did not perform with the group. He belongs, rightfully, in the hall with the rest of his bandmates. He felt however, that it was not his place to perform with them any longer, as they have all moved on.

Very much a class act IMHO.

I read somewhere that Steve and Neil have been talking about working together again.

IIRC on the Sammy Hagar road trips show this was not the case.

Meh will probably be full of ballads I started disliking Journey after he jumped on board. I doubt Neal Schon could make this one interesting. He is a good singer but nothing I was ever interested in.

Was a pretty good interview with him on CBS's Sunday Morning. He almost but said that Journey was in the past. I'm interested in hearing this album to see where he's at. Was a good and interesting interview. Can't deny the success they had with him, part of the soundtrack of my life.

I don't think he's looking to become a star again, or sell a boat load. Just trying to get his creative chops again, as his wife wished.

Supposedly, he fell out of love with music, and his wife encouraged him to find that love again. We'll see how he does....always loved his voice though.

  • Been listening to this album on Amazon music today. I've always liked Steve Perry when he was with Journey and his solo albums. However, it's been 25 years since he released an album. It's still his voice, but if you're looking for the old Steve Perry voice, it's not there in my opinion. He's almost 70 now, so his voice isn't going to be where it was at age 45. I read some other review saying that his voice has "weathered". I would say that is an accurate description - still Steve Perry but a little raspier if that's the way to describe it.

The songs are ok, but overall much slower than in the past. A lot of the songs seem to point toward his late wife and the love they shared. Nice songs, just nothing memorable that warrents a purchase - at least for me. Glad to see him back in the music business, just wish it was something a little stronger after all these years.

I'll throw the guy 15 bucks just because. Lots of great memories from junior high and high school with girls and Journey, heck, I'll sit him $15 on that alone.
