What should I add as a center channel speaker with my LSI 9?

Hey all, I am replacing my center channel for my 5.1 system, and I thought about getting the CSI A6 with my LSI 9. It's a good price and unfortunatley I can't afford the LSIm series.

What do you think about it?

Thanks for the help!

Hello and welcome to the forum.

If I remember correctly the LSi are 4 ohm speakers, CSi A6 is 8 ohm speaker. If you're just powering them with an AVR that might not be good for long term use.

You should list your AVR and amps if they are being used.

There are others on this forum that will have a lot more knowledge than I. Maybe they will chime in.
When I was a kid my parents told me to turn it down. Now I'm an adult and my kids tell me to turn it down.

So I currently have the tl1600 as surround and center speakers, and the lsi 9 as front. The AVR is Pioneer vsx lx302 :)

You want the front 3 to timbre match. The CSiA6 is not a good match with the LSi9. In fact, it sounds nothing like the LSi9.

So my only good option is the LSIC?

Well yeah, the LSi series has been out of product for a number of years now. The LSiM series replaced it.

There are some LSiC's available but you might want to consider getting rid of the 9's and parlaying that into another front group of speakers that would be easier to drive with an AVR

Your Pioneer Elite receiver is 4 ohm rated. My GF is driving my LSi-9's with basically the same receiver, it does just fine, and she really likes those speakers. I like them also, (and the LSi-7's,) good bang for the buck at current prices - that's for sure. I may be incorrect, but I thought there were some LSi-C's recently in the "for sale" forum, maybe check and take a look back - although I may be remembering them from the "Looking for Misc Audio Deals of the Day" thread). They seem pretty easily obtainable in any event.

Any 4 ohm speakers might be rough on a receiver

With the outrageous sale back on at Adorama for the LSiM 703's, it may indeed behoove you to pick up a pair for the 5 hundy (with free shipping) and sell the LSi-9's - even though I like the 9's, the 703's are a better speaker and at that price would mean you'd only have to kick in a bit after the sale of the 9's. I like the 9's a lot, but I have both and the 703's are virtually impossible to beat at that price. A completely re-designed speaker.

I use a 703 for my center channel with 705s on the left and right. Three 703s across the front would be awesome.
