I noticed a center weight for sale in the FS section and have wondered, do these weight thingeys slow down the speed of the TT?
Trust me my TT's are not of a quality to even use a center weight, just curious about them.

They won't as long as the tt's drive system has adequate power and torque to support the weight in question (which I realize is something of a Catch-22 of an answer
).
There are also clamps for the less torquey platforms out there.
Someone say torque?
PS The value of a weight or clamp relates to the records being played not the tt (although I reckon you know that!). Better contact of the disk with the platter is generally considered to be a good thing.
The Clearaudio/Souther "Clever Clamp" is indeed a clever little gizmo (and not too expensive as long as one doesn't think too hard about it being a little piece of clear plastic!).
