Just snagged a box of these...from the maker of My Father cigars. I'll be back with an opinion shortly.

Great draw wit a good, even burn. Good, deep layering of core cigar tobacco flavors. Leather, dark cocoa, wood. As is typical of most cigars from this blender they are on the fuller, stronger side. Holding out final judgment, but, doubting they are worth their price. Very good, but, not knock sac back good, and, that's what I would expect from a $20 robusto.

Still one of the consistent, best cigars available. Fuente Don Carlos belicoso. Medium strength aged Dominican puro. Sublime.

I don't consider this a serious smoke, but I do consider them enjoyable. Long day dynamatting all four doors of the Jeep (inside and under interior panels), install of Polk DB652s all the way round, which led to a satisfying increase in sound quality and this baby in celebration. A good day. Yeah, a Bordeaux too.

Love the Java's! Last night we went to Churchill's, one of the few Cigar Bars in Michigan that is also a restaurant! Treated the guys to a box of Java Red. Chocolate and cherry notes.

    Nice cigars!

Friday night I went to an Alec Bradley event at a local shop. They had us smoke three different parts of the cigar, individually, to get a feel for each leaf. Then smoke the whole cigar.

It was a nice way to see how everything plays together to make the final product!

Stopped by dads today for a sip of rum and and I enjoyed an Ashton VSG while dad had a Pardon 1964.

    Great weekend for cigars!

Been into cigars for a while. Started a few years after I quit those nasty cigarettes (Been 10 years now!!!).

I've tried pretty much everything, but now for some reason I only smoke Nicaraguan. Almost anything from A Fernandez or My Father. My go to cigar is the Man o War Puro Authentico. Relatively quick smoke and cheap.

I guess you guys all know about cigarbid.com.... best prices out there if you know what to look for and are patient.

Just smoked another one of those La Flor Dominicana "La Nox" sticks! Damn good smoke, but it started getting a little hot/harsh on the palate toward the end. In retrospect I should've tossed it 5 minutes earlier than I did.

It's interesting how the finish of some cigars can be an extremely rewarding crescendo in their flavors, or things can start to fall apart quickly and get hot, harsh, and nasty.

A lot of cigars need you to adjust your draw as you start to wind down the stick. Don’t draw as hard and slow down your rate of draws. You can control how hot it gets and preserve your smoke.

Any cigar with a really easy draw should be treated this way as well. They are very easy to get hot and come off as harsh.

I was trying to slow down toward the end, but then it kept nearly going out on me. So then I tried to smoke it a little quicker and it started getting hot. Couldn't find a good balance!

Trying to find the right balance can be an art form.

I’m notorious for not wanting to put in that much effort, a cigar is supposed to be relaxing after all...

Once I’m down to about the last third or I have to start being careful I usually toss it.

Unless it’s an amazing stick, then I’ll put on my game face and keep that sucker going!

Reminds me of the golden rule of cigar smoking: Only smoke it for as long as you are enjoying it.

Next up for me will be one of my all time favorites: Punch Rothschild double maduro!

    Enjoying a nice medium/full Perdomo this afternoon.5uma7waav29w.jpg

Has anybody else noticed, in general, the construction quality has declined recently? Lately I seem to be plagued with sticks that are rolled too tight or have tunnels. This is among the top brands. Frustrating!

I have noticed too many issues with construction. A lot of the issues I see are with improperly stored cigars. Rotation/proper air circulation is critical to good burn.I will occasionally get a slightly under filled, or plugged stick, but, most are really good these days.

This has become one of my favorite go to cigars lately. The Hoyo/A.J. Fernandez LA Amistad. Well made, medium body and full of flavor. 65lyb7o5bqor.jpg

How do you guys like to cut your cigars? Guillotine, punch, etc? I've always just used a double bladed guillotine style cutter.

What about lighting? Butane jet lighter, wood matches, cedar strips?

I use a punch occasionally, I have a sharpened, spent .308 casing that I use sometimes, also an official Montecristo punch.

Usually I use a double bladed guillotine for my cutting though. The draw has to be JUST right for a punch.

For lighting, I use a butane torch or cedar strips.

I use a punch for larger ring gauge or square cigars. Otherwise a guillotine.

Mostly butane jet. Multiple jets. On occasion cedar strips.
