Obsession

Man I knew if I went down this path it would consume me and it does.
Since I started with 4k I have basically not put any effort into my other hobbies.
I play guitar and I basically could care less if I pick it up or not. I also love my truck and been wanting to take it to the track to lay down some stock base line passes before I start modifying it. I lost a lot of my desire to do that as well.
My wife basically opened my eyes to this obsession as I sit behind my gear rack basically every day. I pull it away from the wall, have a stock of wires and just swap stuff out, move stuff around and plan for the next cable to put in.
I also have been at Best Buy more times in the last few months that I did all last year or more. Trying to buy 4k movies I want to TEST not really watch.
I think I have a problem LOL.

So basically, you have turned what is supposed to be an enjoyable, relaxing hobby into a part time job. One that you don't get paid for, spend endless amounts of time and money that you probably won't ever get back on stuff that you don't really want.

That's what I call a waste of a good system.

Maybe tonight I'll watch Bernardo Sweatolucci's film "The Sweltering Sky" with Debra Wringer and John Meltovich. Brilliant skinematography by Vittorio Perspiro.

    I feel ya.

But I have taken a step back and realized, I'm actually not as obsessed as I once was. Family and other time-taking responsibilities have eased my dependency on audio, etc.

I don't mind it, I feel liberated not having the urge to get the next best thing.

Plus the audiophile club group that I have been running with made me realize that what I have is just about as good as it gets (for my ears). It helps curb the need to cycle through even more gear.

Hey, as long as you have a roof over your head and food on the table, how you choose to spend your time/money/energy with this hobby or anything else is inconsequential, IMO.
I remember feeling some buyers remorse when I got my SVS, but that quickly went away after watching one DVD. Life is too short to settle for mediocre bass, and the thought of ever getting my money back never crossed my mind. ;)
So, are you willing to put forth a little effort or are you happy sitting in your skeptical poo pile?
