Very nice looking system you have there. Very curious about your thoughts. These two preamps are very high on my wish list. I demoed the Backert last year and was very impressed. The only Cary I have heard is the SLP-03.

There were some SQ issues at first (with initial break-in) and Andy wanted to hold on to it for a while 'til she settled-in . . .

I just received it last week and have been too busy to put her in rotation ...

Also, I have a cosmetic concern that some of you may be able help with.

For shipping, the pre is wrapped in plastic, then the foam (not styrofoam) surrounds the unit, then the shipping box. Well, it appears that the bond was very tight between the plastic and foam and has left marks in/on the red paint. I don't think they are friction marks and I'm hoping they can be rubbed-out without shipping back to BL.

Thoughts on what to use to buff away/rub away the plastic marks?

    TIA,
    Glenn

Got any pics of the marks?

If it's a painted surface with a clearcoat, maybe take an approach like you would on a car. Claybar with some quick detail spray used as lubricant, and/or a carnauba cleaner wax.

I sent pics to Andy at BL. I think it’s beyond my ability, so I’m gonna ship the case only in the morning.
In the meantime, here’s a picture her in her skivvies . . .

Shortly after my last post the, “balanced XLR connection bug” got the better of me . . .
I ended up with a Cary 05. LOVE IT! 😎😎

Once the Cary was hooked up, I never looked back. So the Rhumba never got a chance to get fully run-in. (I’ve been meaning do that. The next 2 weeks would be perfect)

Rumor has it, the Rhumba pairs well with digital amps.

Matter of fact, not long ago, I also picked up a pair of Salk Supercharged SongSurrounds that are partially run-in. They were going to be used for the rears in a HT application.
Here’s a stock photo that closely matches the mains

Thanks GDog! I appreciate the feedback. If you would be so kind.....if you do hook it up and give it a whirl these next two weeks, let me know what your impressions are.

    Thanks man,
