Where does the time go??

Listening to one of my all-time fave albums tonight, and I just realized it's from 21 YEARS AGO! Third Eye Blind's, self-titled debut album... from 1997. For you classic rock guys, that's modern! What a damn good album. Seriously, where has the time gone???

When one gets to be my age, 1997 falls into that indeterminate period of time that folks like me like to call the other day.

As in, "Did you see the moon landing on TV the other day?".

You will slow down, but not time. Think a day off or the weekend/vacation flies by?

    That's everyday when your retired.

Time's fleeting but I think what is worse is that lately there's been a glut of songs about how fast time flies and that life is short and stuff.

It's kinda aggravating when you're in the garage working on something and this sappy song comes on about how "I'm old now, wtf, how did that happen, ZOMG! Mid-life-crisis panic!"

    Talk about depressing.

Can't change death, nobody knows for sure what, if anything, comes after we just have hope and have faith that it's not the futile end. All you can do is live a life and improve the world in some way. Be a good person, no time for BS, no time for being bored. I'd rather cherish a moment to sit down and take a break than to be bored out of my skull and waste time railing away on the internet about religion, politics, whatever or binge watching TV shows.

Get rid of drama and people with no drive. Life's too short.

Bored? Best advice I ever heard given to someone was "You're bored? Go build a race car." Doesn't have to be a pro-stock drag racer or a NASCAR cup car. Go find a used a Ford Focus for cheap, learn how to fix it and get it back into good shape and go autocross with it. Find an old Camaro that needs help, learn to fix it and go bracket racing with it. You'll improve yourself and meet new people easily. It doesn't even have to be a race car. But race cars are exhilarating! Just get off your **** and go do something.

Stop worrying about where the time went. Fill it up and wonder if you'll have time to finish everything. Living doesn't have to be traveling or extreme sports or whatever. Living can be just raising a family. Just don't fall in to a trap where you worry if you've done enough.

Like Nike says, just do it.

That's interesting, I never got into them, and that was my sophomore year of college. But I am going to "spin" it on tidal while I try to get some writing done...

The best, most consistent drummer I ever played with ordered the exact drum kit that the drummer played on that album because he like the tone so much. I wonder if he still has that kit, I know he still plays in bands. I, on the other hand, play the wheels on the bus for my kids lol.

I just turned 48 on June 3rd and man I didn't like that number. I haven't liked my age since I turned 40.
Time seems to go by very fast anymore. It's like I get up, go to work, come home, have a few hours or less personal time, then repeat.
Weekends go by fast. I get off 3 days a week as I work 4 10 hour shifts. I get up, go to the gym ,come home, do chores , maybe have something cool to do then it's back to work and start the cycle all over again.
I have clothes that are 20+ years old, how depressing is that?

I did the same thing, like a lot of us. Work..work..work.

It's best if we get to work doing something we like to do very much. I did. :)B)

I noticed after 21, what was there to aim for next? Retirement? SS Benefits? Pay off a house or car? Have kids? Get a carreer going?

The biggest thing was ...make money and eat! Get a roof over my head and get a decent car and truck! Also, get a stereo system! :DB)

Over the years, my wife has met people who donate their cloths before Christmas and then go shopping for a bunch of new clothes and shoes every year almost.

We pretty much hang on to our clothes, but my wife does purge her closet quite often. I still need to donate a ton of shirts I haven't worn in a long time since I'm getting back toward normalcy.

Man, I just posted about two weeks ago about seeing Bob Marley on May 29, 1978. That was 40 years ago and that was freaky when I realized it. I saw lots of bands before that but for some reason certain events do a number on you. I saw Pink Floyd in ‘75 and that doesn’t freak me out. Lol.

I agree 100% on these lyrics telling it like it was for me in a way.

    Lyrics to pink Floyd's "TIME"
Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way.
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way.
Tired of lying in the sunshine staying home to watch the rain.
You are young and life is long and there is time to kill today.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.
So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again.
The sun is the same in a relative way but you're older,
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death.
Every year is getting shorter never seem to find the time.
Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way
The time is gone, the song is over,
Thought I'd something more to say.
