Audioquest Aspen: Stupid speaker wire is so unbendable

Argh

I tried to connect my Audioquest Aspen (4 below my Wel but same line) between the Rotel amp and the Focal Kanta 2.... it’s like impossible! The media console has a small metal opening that bends the wire in a crazy contorted manner that just doesn’t allow it.

Not to mention the wire is so unwieldy that I can’t get it to attach to the speakers unless I pull it out into the room.

I didn’t have this trouble with the main system but I realized it was because it was not a living space and I was not limited by decor and furniture.

Sad day.

You start by obtaining a drill, and the proper sized drill bit for tha material you are working with.

Yeah, I had to core some holes in the back of my cabinet.
Good excuse to start building up a nice tool collection. A nice cordless will probably work, but I like corded high speed drills for this sort of work.

You can pickup a boring bit or a hole saw for this. It's pretty easy. Shop-vac'll be handy.

Pull your gear out, make some measurements for the approximate location, and drill a pilot hole from the inside out where your stiffer cables will be coming in. Then go around back and finish it, if you can't comfortably complete the hole from the front.

I'm not a fan of contorted cables and stressed connectors, myself. It... uh... stresses me.
    I disabled signatures.

I think I'm going to put off the Aspen in the game room for now until I find time and money to switch out the console to an open one, I will keep an eye on the holes in the rear from now on. Even with holes in then right spots the AS Aspen puts undue pressure on the binding posts.

Unfortunate. I think I'll try smaller cables here

Would help but the massiveness itself is what don’t work.

It’s too bad, it’s a really good speaker wire

Joey, I bought a pair of the 8' AQ CV8 for 50% off (closeout pricing) and am perplexed at how good this speaker wire is for $300. It replaced a set of MIT cables on my B&Ws.
