I am using these with the ACA, in case that wasn't obvious.

If I had a nickel for everytime I saw that pic I'd be a gazillionaire... B)

If didn't have all that junk, maybe I would be too.

Are you calling my Bryston DAC junk? :)

    Did you ever use it?

    ahem, sorry :(

I use it daily, that's why it is sitting there.
Everything else. Everything else is junk.
Well - except the Amp Camp Amp @ALL212 built.
Oh, and the Bottlehead Reduction of @mrbiron which is still being held hostage.

And anything else I got from you guys here! :)

Anyone have a finished V2 of the ACA? Board layout looks different.

I know you'll all be shocked but I've built the Frugal Horns (a tad harsh with the cones I chose and I don't remember which cones I chose). I've built both the Bottlehead S.E.X (V2) and Stereomour (V1).

The S.E.X can do both headphones and speakers (although very low power, 2W), sounds great but box is crowded - doable - but not a lot of room to play with. Get the impedance switch's with it and you can match it to your cans or speakers.
    cl3v3t1bqtp4.jpg

Stereomour is more expensive but there's room under the hood. Also sounds great and has a bit more power (3.5w). No headphone.

Either of them can become your life long friend with the right speakers.

    TC-377
Dump find. Works well (except the counter belt needs to be replaced)
Decent sounding basic mechanical transport, single motor, three-head deck. Good for auditioning found tapes. :)

16102128209_95e707b923_h.jpgSony TC-377 by Mark Hardy, on Flickr

Hey! I had one of those until about 2 years ago. Must have bought it in the late 1970's (?). Used it so much that the tape guides had to rotated periodically due to wear, but the heads seemed to hold up quite well. Finally tossed it out when the motor failed.

    Cheers, Jim

    A good question! :)

No not really. The Monitor Series Model 9A was pretty sensitive and works pretty well with low-powered vacuum tube amplifiers; I don't think I've ever tried them with fleapower, though.

It is a testable hypothesis :)

I am resisting only because I don't have a pre-amp to pair with this. I want it just for the build experience, but it appears to sound very good to excellent as well.

It is important (essential) to have cannon fodder speakers for test purposes -- especially with direct coupled solid state equipment. Don't ask me how I learned this. ;)

I'm lucky I still have good hearing although ringing started a year or more ago and it has nothing to do with that explosion years ago. I only blew one tweeter. That's all. :o

Polk Audio made a TOUGH speaker system with those RT3000Ps. To take a direct short and only have one tweeter blow, that's impressive.

I thought I blew every speaker in all 4 units. My wife jumped up and came into the room to see if I was alright what the heck just happened. It sounded like a truck backfired in the room. I almost soiled myself! :#

Anyone reckon the Pass amp would work well with a pair of 705’s? Or perhaps as monoblocks, which apparently is a build option? Thanks.
