RTiA9

Just purchased RTiA9 speakers. I am in London, Ontario, Canada and would like someone to suggest me a receiver that would power these beasts. I have a $1000 budget.

You will need an amp to properly power those beasts. What's the application HT 2.1, 5.1? Knowing what your plans are with these will help get you more answers. I use a mine in a 7.2 set up with a Parasond A31 running the fronts.

A dedicated amp would definitely help. I have the same towers. In the very beginning, I used to drive them (infact my entire 5.1 HT system) using Pioneer Elite SC-65. The towers sounded good. But then I hooked them up with Parasound A21 and there was a significant improvement in overall sound quality.

Strongly suggest a dedicated amp, if not possible for now, then go for Elite series. Can't go wrong with them..

    Yamaha RX-A10XX and up
    Pioneer Elite
    Marantz
    Denon AVR-X3300 and up

Make sure the AVR has pre outs to add an amp too. The RTi line likes power, more power you have on them the better they sound.

When I was a kid my parents told me to turn it down. Now I'm an adult and my kids tell me to turn it down.

The truth is no AVR can properly drive them.

2 channel or Home theater? Big difference.

If 2 channel, get a big ballsy amp (at least 200 wpc) and a simple 2 channel pre and rock out.

If HT, I would suggest splitting the budget in half, get a $500 AVR with pre-outs, and then find a used 200 wpc + amp from parasound, rotel, B&K, etc. with the remaining $500.

Like already stated, no receiver will make them sound their best. They need a good wallop of current, something receivers really don't have.

What you need is....a receiver with pre-outs, and a separate amp, something in the 200 watts per channel area. With your budget, might be kinda hard to do. Look for a used receiver with preouts and a used Parasound or B&k amp.

If we sound like Parrots, it's because your not the first with this problem, won't be the last either, and many of us have been down that path before.
