RIP Rusty Staub

Growing up with the pain and the glory of being a NY Mets fan Rusy was one of my idols. A great TEAM player and a great humanitarian Rusty Staub has passed at 73.

I can remember being about 8 - 10 years old my father lifting me up to the window of the bus at Shea for autographs that the Mets were in getting ready to leave for an away game. Rusty Staub was a class act when signing my book. Fond memory of my Dad & Rusty. RIP...to both. :'( Really great memory!

    That brings back some memories.
We had taken the Redbird Express down to Busch Stadium for, if I remember correctly, the last game of the season, the Cards against the Expos (?).
Before the game we, as usual, had snuck (not sneaked) down to the box seats along the 3d base line.
Rusty was playing catch with (?) and we called out, "Hey MR. Staub ! Autograph ?"
He eventually walked by and tossed us a couple of baseballs. Cool move.

    RIP Rusty, class act.
