As Dan pointed out, the target has been destroyed. I first went directly to the police station and made contact with a K-9 unit, and a patrol officer. I showed them my documented conversation with him, receipts and proof that my account had been raided for the money.
I then followed them to his home and watched from my car as the dog came out with the officer and sat in plain sight about 30 feet from the door, and the other officer knocked. The first thing said was “ I think you have something that belongs to someone else”...
The guy was fairly disheveled and appeared one step away from homeless, and I would not at all be surprised to learn that’s how he makes his money. He thought for a second, saw the dog and said “you mean the CD Player... oh yeah. He could have just called.”
Amazing how quickly a couple of badges showing up unexpectedly can have that effect.

The serial numbers match, and I am pretty sure the faceplate is the same, but it looks like a scotchbright pad was used on it in some places. He appeared to be one step shy of Howard Hughes, so I think he may have been trying clean it up for whatever reason and messed it up. I will get a new faceplate and just put it in my rack for the occasional disc I spin, but to be honest, I have not listened to anything but FLAC since I put everything on hard drives.The Gear... Glad you got your player back John. Waaaayyyyy too much s*it involved, however. Glad you are safe, and your player is back in the rightful owner's hands (yours).
Keep a watchful eye out "just in case" he decides to "retaliate". I doubt he will, however.

Congrats. You are for fortunate the officers assisted, often they take the position that it’s a civil matter and don’t get involved especially with budget cuts. Glad it worked out well for you. It’s unfortunate it had to get that far.

Thanks to you guys for the overwhelming show of support and encouragement. It has indeed been a few crazy days, and a bit of a journey that should never need to be taken by anyone. I am glad it has become a cautionary tale with a happy conclusion as opposed to the mess it started out to be.
Were it not for the wisdom and support received in this thread, as well as through PM, the recovery of the Krell may not have happened. Simply put, you guys are the best.
