Ya wanna know what's wrong? I'll tell ya what's wrong. Entering a reply before one quotes the post to which one is responding. Yeah, that's really screwed up. Makes reading a thread like this even more painful. Glad I got that out. :|

    Clipdat,

H9's comments were good and relevant. For casual listening, adding a dac to MP3 files can help some in SQ, but it also brings to the forefront the shortcomings of an MP3 file.

It's like trying to evaluate 10k speakers on a 300 buck receiver driving them, makes the review practically worthless. I'm not calling your review worthless, just maybe misguided, and here is the basic reason why.

Your trying to do critical listening, on a system setup for casual listening.

You'll never be pleased with the sound if you don't pick a path, a style of listening you wish to accomplish. I get that your hearing may be sensitive to the effects of the filter, we all hear differently. I would suggest maybe playing a cd quality file through the Meridian and compare notes, see how that filter effects your ears on a different file format.

In the end, maybe the Meridian isn't for you, and that's ok. Trial and error is how we move forward in this audio thing.

Dude....lol. Mustard is way better for you than that High fructose Ketchup. Ketchup belongs on French fries, that's about it.

Ketchup is like the MP3's of the food world, doesn't belong on good food, like MP3's don't belong in good audio. Hotdogs certainly don't fall into the good food category though.
Perhaps, but we're not talking "good for you". We're talking just plain "good". And I don't buy ketchup with high fructose corn syrup in it. Hot dogs are the MP3's of the food world, so making a big deal about the condiments that should go on them is freakin RUH-tarded. :p

Now, in the interest of keeping this thread on track, I am going to go listen to an MP3 of Adele caterwauling in her annoying (yet oft copied) vocal style on my Meridian Director USB DAC while eating a hot dog with non-high fructose corn syrup ketchup.
