Pioneer LX102

Anybody here had any experience with the Pioneer Elite LX line? I just ordered one, because I wanted to be able to run 4k from my Amazon box through it without adding anymore cables and remotes. The VSX 32 will be passed onto my youngest for her bedroom to replace an old Sony AVR.

Not familiar with the LX line, though I know the D3 amps have plenty of headroom.

The AVR came in and I set it up tonight. Very lite compare to other models I have own in the elite line. This a bare bones entry level of the LX Elite line so there are some obvious short cuts that have been taken. The lack of analog inputs force me to retire my old Pioneer DV 47i, but I can say that it is very efficient with its power the Elite VSX 32 was rated at 110 per ch and this only 80 per ch using 8ohm speakers. So I am only guessing that the Mic setup software did a better job than the old system.

    Video:
This is where this unit is great at the price point ($299 @Best Buy) all 4 HDMI inputs are 2.2 complaint allowing full 4k to stream through even if the unit is off (passthrough). I connected my Amazon box and it showed the 4k available in the settings. I did a quick test of the ARC via Vudu and it played full 4k W/HDR10 with Atmos. The main complaint I have read is the lack or not being able to see the audio decoding on the units screen and there is no way I have read or going through the manual to make such a change. If you hit the info button on the remote it will show the decoding (only for 5-7 sec) the go back to the input info. the input info is not changeable either, so you are stuck with the defaults.

Follow up after installation. I have never experience failure of a unit until now and if this is the result of the marriage of Pioneer & Onkyo then a divorce is in this future.

I tested each input during the setup and everything worked as described. The first sign of problems was Vudu stopped streaming the video, sound still came through. Next came was no audio or picture from the 85FD. The only thing that work at this point was the Amazon box. I checked all the settings on each device to make sure there was no conflict. I spent the next 2 hours chasing my tail and banging my head against the wall. I swapped out the unit back to the VSX 33 and everything worked again. The Vudu was the real tell, tell as that just envolved the ARC, but this unit was doing something that was keeping the video from being played back via the TV.

Its going back to BB today for a refund or something else, I should have just waited for the price of the SC 91 to keep coming down SMH.

The issues with Elite products since the merger are very high. I switched to Marantz and I am very happy.
Also the VSX receivers do not have D3 amps so taking that back is a good thing. I have a VSX 45 in the garage and it has been back to BB for repairs twice. My buddy at Magnolia won't even recommend a Pioneer receiver these days. You never saw this much repairs with Pioneer in the past. Sad what has become of the current offerings.
I will keep my SC81 as long as it will go so I can remember the good Pioneer days.

I've been happy with the SC-91. You should be able to find a deal on one, but I noticed Crutchfield and Amazon are out.
