I decided to come out of the shadows and say thanks to everyone.

Back in the late 80's I had the opportunity to listen to the SDA SRS, B&W Nautilus, and Mcintosh line array speakers in the same shop. The SDA SRS were my favorite and still are today.

About a year ago my birthday came around and my wife asked me what I wanted. There wasn't really anything, but then as I thought about it, I thought if I could find those special speakers that would be a great gift.

Well I found a beat up pair 30 miles from me. Thanks to all the information on this site I performed all the updates, modifications, and restorations and I now have the most awesome pair of speakers. While I was at it I refurbished my M500t amps and True Sub. To me they are sounding the best of any speaker I have heard, and it is in my living room!!!

This is one of my favorite sites and I visit daily. I might comment here and there but don't count on it. It was not right not to say thanks.

    I also have a C1 I've been mulling over refurbishing. The Bill D mod sounds interesting. Used to have an all Carver setup including Amazing Loudspeakers.

    A basic run down of what i did.

    Refinished the wood (looked like they had been dragged down the road)

    New grill cloth (all ripped up)

    New RDO194 tweeters (Only the mid range worked as found, did not trouble shoot as I was rebuilding everything, poly switches most likely shot)

    Utilized original circuit boards and rebuilt x-overs (sacrilegious but I used solen fast caps and mills resistors, removed bypass caps, and poly switches - .5ohm resistor in it's place) I'm an EE and was an Instrumentation and Control Technician for 17 years so you can guess where I fall on some of the debatable topics LOL, and in full disclosure I also designed the distribution system for a while and now test medium voltage underground cables for the utility company I work for. Sorry sounds like I'm bragging.

    Repaired spider on one of the Passive Radiators

    Applied dynomat to all drivers

    Power grab to the magnets

    Black hole 5 behind mid range drivers

    Reworked a couple of metal insets for driver mounting to cabinet. (everything is nice and tight now)

    New gaskets for everything

    Sealed inside of cabinets

    Neutric connections for interconnect cable

    Cleaned and polished everything

    Whew it was a labor of love, fun project!

    Nice catch, that is to come, they are on rubber feet right now. Was eyeing some from parts express but they are not 1/4-20. I saw some of the previous recommendations. Will come up with something.
