Ok, I’ll admit - on paper, it sounds like one of the dumbest things going. However, I find myself completely hooked on watching it. The other night, it came on right as I was going to bed, about 10:30pm. I finally went to bed around 1:00 in the morning.
I enjoy the strategy, and the fact that it’s one of the few events not decided by a judge or a clock...

There is a couple in Dubuque, Iowa that also enjoys curling. -
As a Canadian, I have access to curling clubs where the ice is specifically made for curling. I've played the game before and have a club literally just down the road from home. It's an enjoyable game to play and yeah, no clock or judging...just play and there is a lot of thought about the weight of the throw, the curl you want to impart to the rock and finally, the sweeping strategy. Of course the most fave shot of any curler is throwing a take out weight rock...yeah, more power and if your trying to do a double or triple rock take out the more power you give it. Also with the right throw you can sneak a rock behind others....takes skill but doable. It's really a nice game and at the right sheet of ice...you can enjoy adult beverages while playing!
I’d love to try it, but I could never get down low like they do when they send the rock. That, and the “one shoe slick, one grippy” would take a lot of concentration. Adding adult beverages could make things slightly better, or MUCH worse

And the best part is a fat schlub like me can train for a couple years or so and at the age of 60, I could still become an Olympic Gold Medalist.

Just as an aside...seek out a movie called "Men With Brooms" it's a comedy about curling....typical Canadian humour meaning a bit of tought is requires to get the jokes. Great watch actually.

Ya know, I played the game once....and that was enough for me. Boring.....but it does have an element of strategy that's interesting. You have to be quiet too.....doesn't fit well with my heritage.HT SYSTEM-

Curling is about 9850 times more interesting and fun to watch than, say, snowboarding.
I like the innocence behind curling.
Not a lot of opportunities for big name corporate sponsorships in that sport.
You play it because it's fun and have a good time playing.
