So took a break from bantering on CP and decided to drill out the cabinets and prep for H-nuts. Special thanks to @westmassguy for the proper procedure:

The only thing I would add is definitely go slow !!! In fact, I just allowed the weight of my cordless drill to do the cutting. Worked great !!!

    Good advice.

One of these days I'll get around to installing the Larry's rings I have stockpiled. I have 5 pairs of speakers waiting for them. I think I'm short one set of rings for 10" passives, I should have a bunch of extras otherwise.

The side panels IMO would tie in nicely to either light or dark endcaps.

I would go with the dark colored end caps personally. Walnut with some lighter grain marks would be sweet.

From the looks of the side panels two appear to have a darker grain pattern and two are seem lighter. If it was me I would personally install the darker ones on the outer facing sides of each speaker and the lighter ones on the inside of each speaker so they face each other.

I would also install the first and third panels the way the grain is shown above(left to right). The second and forth panels would the be reversed/flipped to match.

I'm a bit picky/weird about things like that...

    Verb,

Nothing personal and in my opinion. I've seen countless attempts at doing what you are planning and not one of them looks right in the end. The only one I've seen that looks right is a pair of 3.1TL's that were veneered to look like a studio version.

I basically agree. If he only did a single strip like the SRS 2's, 1.2's or 3.1's use it would probably look better. That's just my opinion also, your results may vary.

I’m with you on that. The grain being so pronounced definitely needs to be matched for a good symmetry. Thanks for your suggestions!!!

I thought about the single strip but decided to go full panel instead. My strategy is to ensure the front edge is aligned perfectly with the cabinet as to keep the relationship the same with the grille. I appreciate your feedback!!!
