Amp stands

Considering building a pair of amp stands. What materials would be best for construction? Ie: solid wood, MDF, ect. Also feet, spikes ect. They will be supporting a Krell amp and a parasound 1500a if this makes any difference.any input would be appreciated as this is my first foray into amp Stands.
Main Rig:

I do have some isolator matting for high sensitivity lab equipment that I use for my turntable I guess I've got plenty to use for under the amps if necessary but just curious about materials as to what would be the least offending material to build them out of?

I utilized Butcher Blocks/Cutting Boards for my Stands and made a Base for them. Pretty simple stuff. I haven't gotten around to Spiking them though.
