Amp stands

Considering building a pair of amp stands. What materials would be best for construction? Ie: solid wood, MDF, ect. Also feet, spikes ect. They will be supporting a Krell amp and a parasound 1500a if this makes any difference.any input would be appreciated as this is my first foray into amp Stands.
Main Rig:
Krell KAV 250a biamped to mid/highs
Parasound HCA1500A biamped to lows
Nakamichi EC100 Active xover

AQ kingcobra ic's
OPPO 83 CDP
Lehmann audio black cube SE phono pre, Audioquest phono wire (ITA1/1)
Denon DP-1200 TT. AToc9ML MC cart.
Monster HTS 3600 power conditioner

The plinth will sound the way it looks and feels. If it's hard, it will have a hard sound to it. Soft will be soft. Giving it a knock will help you get a sense for the tone it might introduce to your system. The resonance of the material will transfer to your gear and music unless you isolate.

I do have some isolator matting for high sensitivity lab equipment that I use for my turntable I guess I've got plenty to use for under the amps if necessary but just curious about materials as to what would be the least offending material to build them out of?

Hdf would be a good choice but it's hard to find in a decent thickness. Mdf is good as well. Composite materials are better because they break up the natural resonances.

I would avoid granite or stone as it does get hard. Any wood should sound better. Mine are acrylic.

I utilized Butcher Blocks/Cutting Boards for my Stands and made a Base for them. Pretty simple stuff. I haven't gotten around to Spiking them though.
