Man, I can’t believe the monstrous sound quality of the LSiM’s, just watched John Wick, and granted not the best movie but the SQ was out of this world coming out of these speakers, just incredible!!

As good as the RTiA’s are there is no comparison between the two, the LSiM’s are leaps and bounds above them, as they should be considering price difference. The wife and I are just floored by the improvement in sound..

That is all, I will probably brag about them again next Saturday after another movie.. :p

What kind of amplification are you driving them with?

Oh, then I guess you won't be needing your 1.2s or CRS... I'll be by next week to get those lousy relics out of your hair. o:)

Ha. I really liked the XPA-1s in the HT powering the RTI12s. The fullness of the sound, punch and dynamic range made for a real theatrical performance.

With the LSIM 705’s I found the top end to be slightly rolled off with the Emotiva amps. But I haven’t tried the LSIMs in the HT and the EMO pairing was only temporary while I searched for something a little different.

I’m glad you’re enjoying your setup. I’ve been thinking of selling off the RTI’s and going back to a dual purpose setup which would mean getting the matching LSIM Center and Surrounds. My two channel room may be getting repurposed as my wife wants a piano in that space. So it’s good to know your liking what you’re hearing with the Emotiva as I may be heading down that same path.

Oh, Listen here mister. We got no way of understandin' this world. But we got as much sense of this bird flyin in the sky. Now there is a lot that bird don't know, but it don't change the fact that the world is happening to him all the same. Cool glad you like the LSiM. I was thinking about trying to get them for a bit but no funds and I just got my S60 earlier this year.

John Wick on Blu-Ray is a good workout for the AV gear.

From what I've heard there is nothing wrong with Emotiva. I have a smaller BasX-A300 and it opened up my S60's nicely. I got to demo an XPA-5 years ago on my RTi-8 and it was a nice improvement for the weekend. Now if I had more funds, yes I would have a Parasound.

    Cheers

No need to duck for cover! I've heard good things about Emotiva amps, especially for HT. Their prices are pretty reasonable as well!

Have always heard good things about the LSiM.
Would love to hear them in action but no Polk dealers in Halifax other than Best Buy and they only go up to the RTiA series here.
I would add a pair of 707’s into my system if I could get my hands on some.

Glad you’re enjoying yours so much.

The guy I bought my LSiM's from was powering them with an Emotiva amp. I didn't have an opportunity to hear them with that amp because he sold it before I drove down to get the speakers, but he said he loved the combo.

What size is your room, out of curiosity?

Just picked up the 7 speaker LSiM package with receiver from Adorama on Thursday. I’m impatiently waiting for them to be delivered. Can’t wait. Now I just need to figure out what to power them with as I don’t think the Yamaha rx-a2070 won’t cut it from what I’ve been reading.

You might be surprised. I ran two RTA-12B's (4 ohm), two Monitor 5's (4 ohm), and two Monitor 4's (8 ohm) off a RX-V667, which is pathetic power wise compared to your RX-A2070. Never tripped the AVR, a speaker fuse, or cooked a driver. Just be careful with the volume. Improvements can certainly be made with an amplifier, however, just saying it will work without issue. Give the Yamaha plenty of breathing room to keep cool.

The Yammy will run them, sand the sound is decent. Add a amp it it's a whole new level. Mids really open up on the lower Hz area, and bass becomes more enhanced. You hear subtle nuances that you didn't know existed.

Thanks for the responses. I’ll give it a go with the 2070 and make sure it has plenty of room to breathe. I’ll need a little time to replenish the HT funds before I can pick up an amp. What recommendations do you guys have for a good but budget conscious amp? Also, should I get a 3 channel to run the center also or just 2 and let the 2070 run the center and surrounds? This is my first time jumping into this level of speaker/equipment.

Used B&K or Parasound would be your best bang for the buck. If it has to be new and cheap, Emotiva and Outlaw are the ones I'm aware of.

Thanks. I’ll try to find a used B&K or Parasound. I’ve heard/read that they are the better options. Just wanted to get some additional opinions.

I enjoyed the 705's when I had them. They play well above their $ in my opinion. I still have a set of RTI12 in the living room rig and I completely agree with you, night and day difference.
